2023 French road trip.

Loving the updates, keep them coming as we're heading to La Garangeoire and then Il de Re in August.

We will be taking the ferry to Dieppe so would welcome any recommendations for a decent overnight stop suitable for families?

I have just booked our tunnel for August. Already had 5 nights booked in Avignon, but not decided what to do to get there. Catching an early evening crossing, drive for a bit and kip at an Aire (probably a motorway one), then booked a municipal site in Beaune, just south of Dijon as we've heard it is a lovely town, then off to Avignon. After that not a clue. Ultimately we will end up in Spain at our house but between Avignon and there, we have no idea! I guess, with it being late August we should probably plan it!

Following the updates on your trip. We're off on a 2wk France road trip in August.
First spot via Rouen is site, Camping Château de Chanteloup just North East of Le Man's. Then around the Loure and Dordogne region to stay at Camping Brantome Peyrelevade.
Any recommendations would be welcome as we're still to book/ identify a couple of further campsites for the second week

Well the Amboise site was a municipal which we've never tried before. Seemed OK but was more suited to campers travelling light not us with everything and the kitchen sink. Wasn't happy so decided to cut our losses and leave. Ended up on a yelloh village site just down the road. You live and learn.

Camping Capeyrou in Beynac. Right on the banks of the Dordogne with stunning views ip to the castle.

Trip update.

Current at Camping Parc du Val de Loire ***** Yelloh! Village à Mesland

Nice site but pretty expensive. Pools are great. Bar restaurant on site. Would be ideal place for anyone with young kids during the main weeks as there's loads of activities put on. Now mid week out of season very quiet.

Daughter has just found out the near by zoo has pandas that she's been desperately waiting to see so will be heading to a site near by on Thursday.

Rain and distant thunder last night but nothing to dramatic Compared to our last site.

Now very warm with clear blue sky's forecast all week.

So train is now booked for our second French road trip this June following the HUGE success of last year's adventure.

This time we'd like to head down to the Dordogne. Will have two weeks to get down and back up to Calais.

Looking for help and advice on the following;

* Recommendations on places to stop on the way down?
* Where to stay (or not to) in the Dordogne area?
* Best route to take? Happy to use tolls.
* Any great sites we should look at?

Thank you in advance.
We stayed in a great campsite just outside Beynac-et-Cazenac, www.campinglecapeyrou.com that was back in 2014 though. Worth checking out.

Pandas now ticked off

so heading north to Normandy tomorrow. Two more days of 30+ forecast here which is too much for the dog. Hopefully slightly cooler on the coast.

Learning loads of lessons during this road trip. I'll make up a list at the end.
