907 gas refill cost

I think I paid £36 to fill my spare bottle last year from my local tool hire.

I still haven’t fitted it as the current bottle just seems to keep going.

It’s been in the van for 5 years and boiled the kettle on many a dog walk, 16 days in Ireland and many at forum gathering and VW show.
Even now when I’m trying to use it up it just keeps going.

I found a guy in Dartford who sells 904s and 907s. Bought a full 907 for £35, told me he refills for £15. He advertised on Facebook market place, I can did out the advert if any Kent/south London peeps are interested

This may be controversial ?

please don’t post Health and safety warnings etc.

I am confident I’m my ability to assemble and leak test gas fitting.

This SHOULD NOT be attempted IF YOU ARE NOT ENTIRELY CONFIDENT IN YOUR ABILITY.

I purchased a set of fitting and hose for transfer filling from a donor Calor Butane 15kg to camping Gaz 907 bottle. see photo below ( component parts need to be assembled and can be bought from gas spares suppliers on line. (Choose quality brass parts only) sets can be bought online comprising all the parts you will need ( suggest a NRV is included for added safety)

I assembled the components and joined them to the hose using correct size spanner’s (ensure a Non return valve fitted to the assembly)

I filled two partially empty camping Gaz cylinders from a larger 15kg blue Butane bottle. Large 15kg Calor gas butane ( current cost £52 / 15kg)

the 907 cylinder is stamped with the Max capacity for both Butane & Propane volumes.

local Hardware shop refill (exchange) camping Gaz 907 bottle £37 each

using the 15kg butane as the doner at a cost of £52 equates to £3.46 per kilo x 2.7 kilo capacity of the 907 = £9.36 per 907 fill vs £37 from an exchange from a dealer.
a saving of £27.64 per fill. (The cost of the parts pay for themself with the first fill).

How much gas do you get through? One 907 lasts me the whole summer season used on a cadac bbq.

Its not about how much gas I get through.

I use the 15kg cylinder at home (I do love a BBQ) so it makes perfect sense to be able to top up my 907 cylinders when it suits me to do so.

it’s about pure convenience.

have you ever run out on site? or chopped in a near empty cylinder because it may not last a trip, have to go find a supplier whilst away Etc.

2024 update.

Go outdoors.

£55 for a refill.... 907

Jeez .

And couldn't apply the 10% discount.

..

Yes bought it.. (the refill)

Just had to check my receipt...

Looks.like they charged the full £103.50, and then discounted £55 for the old bottle return. Which left the Balance of £48.50.

So yes I just paid £48.50 for this refill 907.

...

So has gas gone up?

Or is this going rate for a 907 refill?

.

I paid £48.00 last June just before Camper Jam so the price has levelled out, I don't feel so sick now 11months on

Attwoolls,

£42 instore only

so, just for my own brain maths . .

a 907 contains 2.75kg of gas.

and i paid £48.50, so 48.50/2.75=17.63 - or £17.63 per Kg of gas.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

and these c500s that im replacing. . ., - https://amzn.to/4abEBv1

are £26.99 for 6 cans, (440g each, 6x440 = 2640g or 2.64kg)

so 26.99/2.64=10.22 - or £10.22 per Kg of gas.

1715092967571.png

.............

so I've just replaced gas at almost twice the cost of what i was paying before?

hold on, what happened to the economy of scale?

so these 907 are not cheaper then? on gas?

.

i was using this twin c500 adapter from CADAC before. . .

1715093620711.png

.,

defo cheaper on these 5kg units.

£34.99/5kg= 6.99 per Kg of gas.

1715098859832.png

or

£49.99/10kg= £4.99 per Kg.

1715098979163.png

+++++++++++++

so..................................

can i use a 5kg or 10kg FloGas Propane to refill a Campingaz 907 bottle?

One 10Kg should give us 4x refills?

@Dellmassive. I was just about to post about the price in Attwools and then saw yours! - they're actually my local camping store (a few minutes in the car). That said, I no longer use CG in the van and rely on a Cadac and 'square' stove, both of which take 'long' 227 Gm cylinders. Mind you, even when we did have the 907 in the van, I only used about half the bottle in 3 years.
