AdBlue Discussion and Issues

From what I have read, we could only go for the 10Lt containers, as it won't keep once opened.

Im doing an adblue mpg calculator as well as fuel.

2300 miles to 9.37 litres on the first tank. 4800 miles in and the 1400 warning has come on.

@chrisw well how come you can get the stuff at a pump, won't that go off as well.

Trucks use stacks of the stuff, I've read the average >25t multi-axel is getting through 400 litres a month. Won't be in the tank long enough to go off in any busy station.

I don't use the dealer for anything. Do it all myself. I don't have dsg but any software updates will be null and void once I get remap.

I think these engines fuel economy are just so sensitive to hills, throttle and most importantly cold weather.
These last few days has been 9 degrees plus and my Mfd without trying is reading higher than normal. Plus I think they do run extra such on Regen which I think they do allot more often. Certainly richer than the t5.1.

Off Rix Petroleums website-

Provided that it is kept in the optimal conditions — out of direct sunlight and at a temperature between -6°C and 25°C — your AdBlue can last up to 18 months in storage. If you store it at a higher temperature than this or in a vented container, the shelf-life will only be around 6 months

Just bought a t6 highline 140 dsg. Is that euro 5 or 6 and does it need ad blue either way? Sorry for the newb question but it's in the garage to have the kenwood sorting out so I can't look in the book. Just wanna know if poss for when I get it back. Cheers in advance

And for anyone else that is not too sure whether they have or have not got adblue there is a simple check. Open outer fuel cover; two caps inside = adblue system, euro 6 engine; one cap = no adblue, euro 5 engine.

@Rik. Although you have a Euro5 engine, like @T6 Dave, you do have Blue Motion Technology, Smart Alternator, Regenerative Braking and Stop Start technology that is common to the T6 model regardless of Euro5 or Euro6 engine. You need to be aware of this if you are getting a converter to lineout and carpet your van and fit a leisure (second) battery because you cannot use a split charge relay (VSR) and need a smart charger such as the Ring dc30 (there are other makes) because, as @T6 Dave has found, there are still converters that don't understand that the Euro5 T6 has the same electrical needs for smart b2b charging systems as the Euro6 version. Getting it wrong could result in an electrical fire.

Thanks @T6 Dave's Dad. Not a problem currently as the T6 is gonna be my daily workhorse taking over from the trusty t4. Now I can finish the t4 off as it's been doubling up as my work van and my weekender as it has rock and roll bed, fridge, hob, sink etc etc in it. Poor van has had all that in plus my work tools and spares! Now I can rest it up, fix the knocks and rattles, and finish off the interior so it carts me about on weekends away in comfort and without having to empty everything out of it before I go anywhere or put it all back in when I come back!

I've done c. 2000 miles now, the AdBlue Range on the dashboard hasn't changed from 6500miles.
Is this supposed to change?

Yes. The range for me is about 5000 miles.

But I wouldn't complain if yours isn't using any!

If only the same happened with the fuel range :)
