Help please.
I have had a 30mm body lift with koni shocks installed on my T6 transporter and need some suitable swamper wheels and tyres to fit without having to modify Just bolt straight on. Was think Rhinos or kmc with Ko2 tyre 16 inch 17inch ? .Can any body help don’t want to buy and than find out there are issues.

Many thanks T6 forum.

I do like the look of the holeshots with a 235/65r17 tyre.
Should have plenty of clearance with the lift im guessing?

Suggesting tyres would depend on the use that they would be put too. Are the tyres likely to be a second set for occasional use or your only set.

You could start look at All Season Tyres with the recognised 3 Peaks mountain logo. These would provide all year long use including winter. Parts of the EU have regulations at certain times of the year concerning winter use. This sort of tyre would satisfy this requirement and allow mild off road use. Look at Michelin Cross Climate or other similar tyres from the main manufacturers.

If you are Looking for some thing tougher and more resilient having better Off-Road capability and able to take more nocks and scrapes then All Terrain types of tyres would fit the bill. They come from the mild to the fairly aggressive tyre patterns with the most aggressive having protective tread coming part way down the side wall. Some of these tyres may also come with the 3 Peak Mountain Logo and marked mud and snow. The carcases of these tyres are generally of heavier construction.

Loz who is an experienced member wit EU wide driving and Off-Road experience rates the Michelin Lattitude Cross.

General Tyres AT3 are more aggressive again have 3 Peaks Mountain Logo . these will be also seen on plenty of 4x4 vehicles

BFGoodrich AT TA KO2 Probably the most aggressive of the normally available All Terrain Tyres have the 3 Peaks logo for out and out OFF-Road use and still performs well on the road. They are just the next level down from the more specialised Mud Terrains Are very tough and are the first choice of many 4x4 and Off-Road drivers.

Just a brief selection of types most of the major manufacturers can provide some of the tyres such as those above.

You will need to think about what it is that exactly you require.

Just another thing concerning tyres. Some of the Off-Road AT tyres from some manufacturers have limited number of suitable sizes suitable for the T6 without modifications. So you need to bear in mind that this means a small increase in size. Most speedometers on most new vehicles over read to a certain extent. I think that the Law states 10% max over read but that the must not underead but few vehicles would be like that today. From my owm experience and that of others who have measured the deiscrepency of error suggest that it is about 4% over read on The T6. This suggest that there might be some leeway. It is possable to have the speedometer reset to allow for discrepancy electronically, through the sensors. That is covered on this forum. Some have found that fitting tyres that are larger make the speedometer bang on accurate throughot the range. I have found that at 225/65 R17, and that would be the same with other tyres that have that overall circumference. Tyre comparison sites will help you see what difference a particular tyre would make to your vehicle.

I was looking at fitting a set of 225/65/17 BFGs to my van but now realise they don't meet the 'T' speed rating I need to match the originals. Has anyone tried the Cooper Discoverer ATT tyres? I've heard the Cooper A/T3 4S is a decent tyre but the smaller diameters are only 102 load rated so not high enough.

Are you sure you need to match the original speed rating? I understand you may choose to match the speed rating.

For Landrover's new defender (upto 400bhp / 130mph plus), LR dealers will sell you and fit this tyre, which has been developed for the new LR Defender by Goodyear

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac. Only 189.00 £ stamped with a LR homologation

which are Q rated: up to 100mph

As I understand it if you fit tyres with speed rating lower than what was factory fitted then you could potentially void your insurance. 199PS T6.1 factory tyres are also lower speed rated than the published max speed of the Van but since that’s what VW fit your insurance is valid.
I suppose they could also catch you out if you have larger diameter wheels anyway due to braking performance but I’m probably being overly cautious

You can always have a chat with your insurance company, telling them you don't drive over the "S" speed rating of the BFG tyres = 112mph.
I'm sure they'll be relieved ;) :p

If the tyres are the cause or a factor in the claim and not declared then yes an insurance company could take that into consideration. However an insurance company could not refuse to pay out if the lower speed rated tyres were not a factor in the claim.

looks nice but you might have a bit of trouble with ground clearance if you want to get properly muddy! Good luck

It started with the lowering springs (bottom picture) and didn't rub or catch anything, then it went back on standard springs (top picture) and was good, but I have now sold them.

Evening, does anyone run 225 60 17 tyres? I have just got some wheels with cooper discoverer att tyres, currently at 40psi does that sound about right? I'm new to at tyres so any advice would be greatly apprecuated. My van is a kombi which doesnt carry any weight except the family and a few mountain bikes every now and then.

Cheers

Have a look inside the drivers door and there will be a plate showing tyre pressures for different sized wheels - 17s should be listed so will give you a baseline

Thanks @t6blo am sure when i looked it suggested around 52psi but may be mistaken. Will re check. My tyres have a max of 50psi which is why i have left at 40 for now.

I don't think 225/60/17 are a VW T6 OEM tyre size, so you may not have a direct cross-reference with door jamb sticker.
I guess to start with what is the minimum tyre load rating for your van? and what is the load rating of tyres?

Minimum tyre load rating for my van is 99 have a t28 with both axle loads at 1550kg. The tyres that are on are 103 load rating. Cheers
