Any runners here?

Managed to get a loan of a Fenix 6S, battery life is alot better and will last me on my ultra’s now. Still keeping an eye out for a new watch though!

I have the 7x ss. Purchased this after selling my 5x as needed something that would last me for multi day ultras.

serious wedge them...
would love one but, when it comes to it, can't bring myself to spend that much. my FR245 does 80% more than i know about!
but you're right the battery life on the new models is MUCH better - did you look at Coros, they seem to be better still?

and talking of new stuff, what've people got booked up, race/event wise for next year??

Attain will be sponsoring the Ultra Loop. Alex is a nice guy who set it up, he has just rebranded as Resolute Running.

Attain is being rebranded right now and we have 9 new caps in sample mode.

Sales on too if you wanna grab a great cap and donate at the same time :)

I completed The Warrington Way 40mile race on Saturday, had a great time as always, the weather certainly helped! I was slower this year but that's because i persuaded my friend to join us and this was her first ultra so took our time and made sure she was ok all the way round. :)

Bought a fenix 6x sapphire from sport pursuit a few months ago for a decent price. They only have 6 pro solar and 6s solar now but they are £350/£330 so cheaper than most places

I'm not a serious runner, I just joined my local Jog Scotland group as a way of getting a little fitter and loosing a few kgs.
I used to commute to work by bicycle which kept me trim and fit, but then lochdown* can in and I've been WFH ever since.
My knees and ankles have taken against me as I'm 50 and heavy but at least I can ride my longer bike rides without dieing!

Feeling this pain, also used to ride 20 miles round trip for work and now permeant WFH, been trying running on and off for about 6 months so joined a strava challenge 100k in November so thats driving me. Im a tad off the pace at the moment at 38k but confident i can make it at the moment!

If anyone has any tips for shin and ankle pain in recovery i would appreciate it! I'm dream of doing something crazy like an ultra but I'm slow and heavy ha ha

@timthetinyhorse I wouldn't bother trying any really long runs for now. A month ago I went out to see how far I could run on e evening. After 15km I got bored and as I was running loops round my home town, I just stopped. But my ankles and knees were sore/achey for the rest of the evening and following day.

Stick to cycling, it is much kinder to your knees and ankles. If you want to try something daft, Google Audax UK.

what footwear/trainers where you using?
that's usually the cause of any problems (including sore knees/joints)
- i'd also not suggest just going out and running 10 miles 'off the bat' as your body'll not be ready for it, MUCH better to build up to that distance slowly...

Yeah older running shoes. I need to buy new ones, but thought the aches were age related tbh.
I didn't just run 15km off the bat. I run twice a week with my local jogging group, around 9-10 km per night.

well they might be! (age related ;) ) BUT definitely get some new shoes if they're old (10/11 months and older)
if you're running that 20k plus a week i'd imagine you're due a new pair...
- there a couple of good running shops in Edinburgh that'll be more than helpful if you need any expert advice (and a gait test!)

and sorry to speak out of turn re. distance

Thanks Trout's! I was toying with visiting Run & Become or just buying a new pair of ASICS. My pair are from my time in the TA, and I left in 2002. But, in my defense, I have been cycling for the last 12 years and not running since my fitness tests in the TA.

how old are your running shoes?
and have you ever had your 'gait' looked at?
3 months at best, Nike wildhorse 7 trail. This is my 2nd pair as they fit so well and i dont get blisters. I have had other brands in the past and the blisters were hell. Problem being unless I'm on the bike, running or my 1-2 days in the office then im a flip flop man, dont care how cold or wet it is i like my feet to be free

:slow rofl:
