Coming Home Lights

Bummer i forgot you werent going, its an adaption map i need not a coding scan, do you have VCDS ?

I just double checked mine and the fog lights only come on when leaving Home(unlocking) and need a flash before opening the door when Coming home, so as per the manual.

My May 2016 needs a flash for coming home, tried it for the first time tonight. Personally, I like the the fact you have to manually enable it.

No I don’t but my mates who look after my van do. The van is going into them on the 24th so they can try and figure out where the knocking is coming from. I’ll get them to do a scan. Is there any specific way of completing an adaptions scan?

Yes the is a section for adaption maps just need to go into that and do a map of module 9 and select csv for the output file

After seeing this from Loz, got me thinking. So headed out to the driveway to check.
Unlock the van using the key and the lights turn on. So I climbed in started the engine, turned it off, removed the key from the ignition, opened the door and...............................

DARKNESS!!!! WTF is going on that has never happened before. Tried again, same thing.
Third time equally unlucky. Flash lights before pulling key out of ignition, coming home lights switch on when you open the door.
:mad::mad: Now i’m madder than i’ve ever been! I have never flashed the lights before getting out the van and would swear on my mortgage that the lights have always been on when getting out the van, cos i’m not shutting the gates in the dark; I can see what i’m doing.
Equally i’ve never had a vehicle where i’ve had to flash the lights to make the coming home function to work so would have noticed over a year ago that this was not functioning as I thought it should.

So simply put what on Earth is going on? I’m no longer certain what is up and what is down!

Light switch in auto position ?
That was the first thing I checked. I just don’t get it. Even I can’t be that stoopid that i’ve been imagining this for 15 months! Can I?

I've had 2 R-line Vdubs over the last 2 years and both required me to flash the headlights when about to depart the car although the first one was a Scirocco which I had for a month before I had to take it in under warranty to VW and I swear I didnt need to flash when I first got it but did when they returned it. Even had a rant at them and they just looked at me as if I was mad o_O

Reading thorough that post (golf one) it still seems like after security access has been given there may be more adaptations.. I’m still working on getting that security code... still waiting on Ross-tech too

You can change to fogs on coming home/leaving home lights in Carista as well as VCDS, still needs a flash of the stalk for coming home lights though :-(

Finally got mine. Easy, 5 minutes got almost everything done. Dial sweep is cool! My wife's Tiguan is next!

Got the following from ECU scan:

Adaptive cruise control
Part #: 7N0907572C
Coding: 00005000FE0779 (hex)
Component: ACC Bosch PQx
[No fault codes]

I haven't got ACC but I'd like it! The sensor is on the front but I asked Marshalls about programming it and they said it couldn't be done! It seems it's there but needs activating.

Also, what's the differences between option A and B on the auto-locking please?

I ticked both for A and B locking and it works, think it depends on model of vehicle

Good starting point... Looks like the radar module is already set up correctly. See VCDS screenshots below from a van with an ACC. On the top actual coding and below tow bar control module ticked off. The coding below is now identical with yours... Question remains where the actual ACC is hiding... Perhaps next the "17-Instruments"...

I'd love to get into VCDS for many reasons but this seems as good as any. However at the minute I don't have it and aren't entirely sure of all the lingo. I get the first couple of sentences but I'm lost when you say...

I'm sorry... Just tried to explain that the settings/coding of "Adaptive Cruise Control" in your van are exactly the same as in a van with a full ACC installed (with the exception of trailer module, which you don't have per coding). This would be a good thing re possibilities to install ACC later - the sensor is already there :).

If I have understood correctly the module above (ACC Bosch PQx) is just a radar sensor (not exactly full ACC as named by Carista) which is used by van's cruise control to create actual adaptive cruise control functionality: engine/transmission/brake control, displays, etc.

This functionality even might be already implemented in a module(s) of your van but not activated. However I don't know if it would be just a simple change or requires even wiring changes, etc.

Anyways, some functionality of actual ACC is in module 17-Instruments, thus a starting point would be to extract the same info (coding) from "Instruments" and compare that coding with similar vans that are equipped with ACC.

I think similar way (comparison/trial/error) was used elsewhere in the forum to activate tyre pressure warning system on vans that came from the factory without one. All the functionality was built in the modules and just needed to be activated by turning right bits.
