I have in my recent comms come to learn that it is VW main dealer 'workshop policy' that all ADAS equipped vehicles have to be checked/re-calibrated if the suspension is changed/altered in any way.
Whether this is what happens religiously though is anybody's guess, but at £150+vat a go it's a nice little additional earner for them for looking whilst its on the diagnostics:rolleyes:

Pity they don’t do the same for windscreen replacements!

Edit: (as I needed to rant!) That’s actually a crock of shit marketing given that my Cali came out of the factory with the weakest ARB in the range on it and an arse sagging like Nora Batty’s tights! Even Mrs JOG commented that one would expect VW to send the vans out of the factory with correctly spec’d suspension and ARBs given the cost VW whack on for a Cali!)

I Had a client the other day who was told his rear springs weren't fitted correctly and it would be £ 150.00 to replace the rubbers under the rear springs ? ( had the rubbers failed or the springs were wrongly fitted ?? ) The client said he would bring it back to us for me to check . The springs were fitted perfectly and the spring rubbers were fine , there was no problem what so ever. HOWEVER the now spooked client is unsure . So I fitted 2 new rubbers "no charge" and sent him on his merry way ,

The sting in this stories tail however is :- When i asked why the van had gone to the agents ? the client responded with, "i have a electrical issue and the car does strange things randomly". Is it fixed i asked , NO they couldnt find the problem !!!! A charge of £80.00 for not diagnosing the problem as well
Come on VW wake up , we don't imagine these faults !!!

@CRS Performance @JOG The conversations I have had with the master-tech's at my main agent are similar, but to add they feel they are being left high & dry by tech in Germany.

They have too many more ongoing technical fault inquiries awaiting resolution by the factory, mainly electrical/software related on 6.1's c/w T6's that they are pulling their hair out as they can't diagnose or do anything about them! (Ad-blue not logging fills/SOS systems/ICE/BCU etc etc)

Yes I agree the dealers shouldn't be charging in the situation you describe, mine hasn't with mine (2 visits & 1.5 workshop days) WRT my ADAS diagnosis/squabble with Autoglass. On both occaisons the master-tech came & spoke to me personally and I have good direct contact with the workshop manager (not just the usual CS 'service manager' in a sharp suit behind an expensive desk who charges for everything). This isn't the 'norm' I'd guess but should be IMO

Is that the Cleckheaton VW van centre?

I hope not, thats where mine is due to go for the Bowden cable recall and a new USB port to cure the Car Play sound issues.
Doesn’t sound bad considering they’ve not charged him and it’s probably the fault of Autoglass.
I’ve always used the cleckheaton one and they have been really easy to deal with. I’m really pleased with them. You should be fine.

I was told by a friend ( Master tech) that there are over 4 million vehicles waiting on the S O S update , I assume he means world wide

I think you are correct in your assumption & probably covers more than just transporters as similar systems used in most VAG CVs

I ended up as a public ‘beta tester’ with an early Discovery3 air suspension that kept failing on 3x vehicles.

Sadly I believed VAG vehicles CAN BUS systems/SW would not be dumped on paying punters like us in the same way LR did…how wrong I was:rolleyes:

Been looking at the Koni shocks for my van and came across Koni specials, what's the difference between these and actives cannot seem to find any info about them other than they are a bit cheaper in price?

The special and special active are actually the same price. The special is an adjustable shock and can be used in vans up to 60 mm lower. The special actives are Self adjusting and they react to the surface of the road and optimize the valving to make the ride more comfortable than any other shock available , This shock should be used in vehicles At standard height but we have successfully used them in 30 to 40 mm drops . ( this means actual drop not with a 30 mm spring that isn’t strong enough and goes down 60 mm )

Thanks for the explanation, and good to know about spring heights too.

Some fine tuning on hybrid sleeve over kits.

If you run any of the sleeve over kits like the B14, B14 comfort, Van Slams or the Twin Adjust Project kits you probably haven’t noticed a reduction in the anti roll bar efficiency. Slight it may be, but it is real. Because these kits are based on sport shocks and not height adjustable, the threaded bodies the anti roll bar bracket on the front shock is too high. This means the anti roll bar isn’t sitting in the correct position and has lost some of its functionality.
These adjustable drop links from Superpro offer the solution and can be easily adjusted on car to level up the anti roll bar. They are about the same price as the standard VW drop links but they are stronger and adjustable ( £120 plus vat )
We have plenty in stock .
If you have fitted updated anti roll bars - H&R for instance - this helps, but the ARB still won’t function at its best !
