Thank you so much.Hi - they’re from Vanstyle
“ANGLED TRAPEZOID SPORTLINE STYLE GLOSS BLACK SIDEBARS - VW T5 T6”
Yes, I had the koni shocks put onto lower springs and it made a massive difference to the van. Totally recommend the upgrade, best mod I done and Steve knows his stuff.Has anyone on the forum changed from standard spec suspension with sportline springs to KONI shocks and HR springs from CRS? I’m booked in to make this change and want some reassurance that it’ll be more comfortable and less crashy than my current suspension. Also SWB Kombi, will it be worth fitting with the ARB at the same time? I’m less sure about this change as another £400.
Thanks @welshbaron was your van already lowered or stock? i like the way mine holds the road on Sportline springs but want it to be more refined and jar less on rough surfacesYes, I had the koni shocks put onto lower springs and it made a massive difference to the van. You won’t regret it!
Mine just had lowering springs on it and standard shocks. I put the koni shocks on and it made a major difference to road handling and smoothness of the drive. I found it drove better, was nicer on the motorway I was very happy. Thanks @welshbaron was your van already lowered or stock? i like the way mine holds the road on Sportline springs but want it to be more refined and jar less on rough surfaces
If one is converting and has a pop-top, ARBs can help as so much more weight is higherI also went from vw sportline springs on standard dampers to the CRS set up . Koni sport damper with H&R 40mm springs . Made a big difference . I’d say around 30% better in terms of ride quality and handling . I personally wouldn’t do arbs . It’s a van after all and it’s never going to handling like a car .
Steve @CRS Performance won't try and sell you anything…. he’s a suspension specialist and a great bloke, so at least you know you’re booked in at the right place with the right people. If you’re not sure about the ARB’s, he might suggest you just change your suspension for now and see how it goes? Either way you go I’m sure you’ll be delighted with the new ride.Has anyone on the forum changed from standard spec suspension with sportline springs to KONI shocks and HR springs from CRS? Agree ARBs not needed but I also did have a T32 so ARBs are already strong on those vansSteve @CRS Performance won't try and sell you anything…. he’s a suspension specialist and a great bloke, so at least you know you’re booked in at the right place with the right people. Hi Had my shocks changed two weeks ago yesterday, t28 with OEM sportline springs sitting 50mm down with 245 45 r20 wheels/tyres. Before the change to Koni shocks the ride was harsh and the weaving to avoid any lump or bump in the road a PITA. I have now driven the van around the Peak Distric, the Yorkshire Dale and the country roads of Durham and Northumberland. Whilst I would have loved to put the Koni Actives on my ride is just too low so it was the sport shocks and I can say that the ride is significantly smoother and quieter…. Which now means I have to go looking for and resolving some small rattles in the back I could not hear before, or set radio to 11…Has anyone on the forum changed from standard spec suspension with sportline springs to KONI shocks and HR springs from CRS? @Big Al What size tyres are you running with at the moment? As you rightly say, a camper conversion (heavy van) paired with 20” wheels is probably trying to ask for the best of both worlds. Maybe a change to smaller wheels and more rubber on your tyres is the way to go?I had our van lowered with the H&R springs/Koni shocks at CRS. Very happy how it looks however, on 20`s I find it hard to say its a better ride. Any bit of uneven surface/pot hole you certainly know about it. It is a camper conversion so I`m sure that makes a difference. May not be so crashy on a standard panel van. So, tyre/profile change at next tyre change to see if it improves a bit.
Yeah exactly what I plan. The converter put on 275/40/20 when I asked for 245 or there abouts ( too long ago) so not much profile.@Big Al What size tyres are you running with at the moment? Agree. I'll be fitting ARB's to my van when I can. Having test driven a van with them fitted they made a really nice BIG difference. If one is converting and has a pop-top, ARBs can help as so much more weight is higher
I had Koni active shocks and lowering springs (not H&R, Steves own developed spring) fitted to my California by Steve last week. Also had a T32 rear ARB fitted which was only an extra £120.Has anyone on the forum changed from standard spec suspension with sportline springs to KONI shocks and HR springs from CRS? Hi there , If this ride is something that bothers you a lot we can lift the van to help this , but converted vans on 20 inch is the main reason for it , we need to measure the drop and see where it is exactly and establish the height .I had our van lowered with the H&R springs/Koni shocks at CRS.
