Hi,
Looking to upgrade my candle powered front lights on my T6.

Have put Philips 150% bulbs in, they are better but not that much better especially in the wet evenings.

Looking for recommedations for replacement led h4 bulbs that don't display a bulb error.

Thank you in advance.

Have you seen this thread: H4's With Leds?

Not convinced it's worth the hassle to be honest, I am going to upgrade to H7 units.

Hi Pete,

Yes seen this thread, but looking for a definitive make of bulb and beam pattern.
The thread is lengthy and difficult to make any definite decisions.

I think that's because there isn't any easy answer (yet) :)

Unless you already got the VW LED OEM lights, then it isn't an easy $$ fix

I've noticed that people have reported an increase in light output with the H7 upgrade, some are happy, some are disappointed.

While i would have liked to go that option, spending $1000 AUD for a set of H7, doesn't seem worth it, if it didn't workout fo me.

I liked the projector retrofit, but the new RHD projectors seem to be awhile away, so i decided to order some LED Bulbs until someone brings out a full Aftermarket LED headlight unit.

All you can do, is review the light patterns from the bulbs fitted here by fourm members and decide if it is worth it for your use and application

I could post a longer video with the Novsight H4 LEDs I've fitted if that helped give an idea, however these require moderate surgery to fit, the trade off is effort versus a genuine improvement in lighting your way for £63.99.

With the H7 headlight you're still going to be underwhelmed at times with lighting output if you stick with halogen lamps.

Halogens seem to cope reasonably in the presence of other traffic on a motorway but seem to wash out when they're the only light source, particularly on dark wet country lanes.

I really don't think we needed another thread on this, all we're going to end up with is another long confusing thread that won't give you the clear answer you want. You need to put the legwork in and read the whole of that thread, which has some great posts by people who've tried and reported back on many diffeent setups, then take your decision.

I’ve just stuck some 150% ones in my H4 headlights and they are a big improvement over standard bulbs. Tonight driving in rain and dark I can see the beam on the road whereas previously oncoming traffic would drown it out.

If you have safety concerns about the standard H4 lights / bulbs and are pondering which route to take (see numerous threads!!) I would seriously recommend getting some fitted!! At £21 from ECP its foolish not to!

DO IT!!

Yeh had these ones before in my caddy and they are def better so I have placed my order and going to collect them in the morning lol Thanks for the reminder of where I got the last ones from

Bulb removal is a bit fiddly - there is a wire hoop at 12 o’clock. You need to push this towards the front of the van then move either left or right to unclip it. I pulled the wiring plug off first.

Yes I have just put the 150 bulbs in so I will see what they are like when it gets dark, In my Caddy they were brighter so hoping for the same lol Thanks

UPDATE: Just been out on our dark est and like before with my old Caddy the lights are better with the new bulbs but VW need to look at this problem full stop.

I fitted the same back at the start of the summer. They are better than the standard bulbs but not brilliant.

I think that OEM LEDs have been a game changer in light performance, however, it is oncoming LED lights that reduce my enjoyment of driving at night - they just burn my eyes too much.

I suppose it can be difficult to differentiate between the two, but do you think it’s oncoming OEM LED lights that are too bright or do you suspect it’s aftermarket LED’s in lamps not designed for them?

I think OEM. Our neighbour has a newish Merc with LED lights and he says he gets flashed 4/5 times a week by oncoming drivers thinking he has left main beam on!

I went from H4 to H7 with Osram Nightbreakers and fitted Foglights ( clear glass) at the same time with 55 watts nightbreakers. Very pleased with the results (please see pictures with and without the fog lights) a dramatic difference compared to the upgraded Philips H4 light.
