Stop/Start Not Working

I'm not so convinced to the tracking devices anymore. The reason being is my friends T6 Cali (a truly beautiful top spec) got stolen and he relied on the best tracking services he had installed.

Once it got stolen, the response from the tracking control room was - "we're sorry but we can't activate the device!!! It was meant to be the one with the unbreakable radio tracking system.

My advice is to instal:

1. Gear Locks – Bear-Lock - the guy who installs is actually a great guy and a friend of mine.
2. and the ghost

Make sure you've got one mechanical and one electronic so the thieves won't drive away with your car.

Please contact me directly if you've got any more questions ;)

No probs, here are the steps:

1. Turn the ignition on so all lights come up.
2. Activate ghost code.
3. Turn the ignition off and...
4. Instantly turn back on - wait for the engine plug heat indicators to go off and start the engine

These work for me every time.

Sorry to keep this topic dragging on. I still haven't got to the bottom of this. Uninstalled the dash cam but no change. Thought it might be the battery as was getting low battery message on radio / infotainment screen and slow to start engine in cold spells Local garage checked battery & couldn't find a fault with it.

Have now got Carista which is showing codes Engine - 25796 - No comms with BCM, and Central Electrics - 00446 - Function Limitation due to under voltage.

Coming round to thinking I may have messed up a fuse when fitting the dash cam.

Any help / suggestions welcomed.

Need to be able to clear the bcm fault, go through all your fuses and check they correspond with the correct placements check the terminals are snug on both sides of the fuse, look on the wiring diagram for the can wires make sure you have not connected to them in anyway, difficult to describe in text but any unwanted noise on the can network can stop the communication to the bcm

Also it is possible to corrupt the bcm, you can reinstall the module and lie to it that it’s a new one

Hi @Niknak, Thanks for swift response.
Will go through the fuses this weekend when I have a bit of time in daylight hours. Reinstalling a BCM may be a bit beyond my knowledge / level of what I dare have a go at:)

Rather than studying the diagrams initially, check each fuse for continuity by putting the probes of a multimeter set to continuity across each fuse in turn. Also using a torch, look into each empty fuse holder, some have no terminals and some have just one, any with two should have a fuse in it.

@Loz Cheers, will start there for certain. Although I was very careful to put things back into slots they came out of, it's altogether possible I got it wrong. Thanks again.

My stop-start has stopped working, what with the van not being used for long periods I thought I'd charge the battery, connected the charger to the battery terminals and charged for an hour or so as it started to rain.
Question has my charging the battery to the battery terminals caused the problem and if so what's the fix?
Thanks

Probably not in an hour. Just attach the negative to the body and carry on charging.
You have confused the battery charge monitoring, but apparently it sorts itself out over time.

Pete

Thanks Pete, will do and hopefully the stop-start will start working again without the need to do anything.

Just from personal experience my stop/start stopped working when my two year old Moll battery decided to give up the fight, was replaced by a very kind VW Assistance mechanic under warranty.

Giving my battery a full trickle charge today, hopefully, that'll sort the stop-start not working. This blasted Covid is messing with my Campervan that's for sure :(

I’m eperiencing the same problem. Flashing coil light just once. And now error: start/stop every time I go out. And like many of you, I have a Ghost immobiliser.

I’ll try out different ways of starting the engine. Perhaps I can find a way that doesn’t trigger the error. Also... I have set up the bluetooth phone connection. Maybe I should try disabling this.

Hey, sorry to hear this... try maybe these steps:

1. turn ignition on - enter ghost code
2. Turn off the ignition and try start the engine immediately after
Let
Me know if this sequence worked - it does for me.

Since I included a press of the start stop button into the ghost sequence I have not had this problem, and the SS is off :)
