How did you manage to get the map in the middle ?

It may interest you to know that VW Australia offers the digital dash as an option for all models of the T6.1 Transporter. The only catch is that you have to also order the Discoverer Media and the comfort dash options with it! I've bitten the bullet and taken this option because I like the idea of looking at the GPS directly in front of the steering wheel and also there are lots of places in Australia where you lose mobile coverage for Google maps but the sat nav in the Discoverer Media is a GPS and works everywhere. I am still waiting for my vehicle (7months now due to COVID-19 slowing VW production in Germany). I will let you know how it goes..oh yes, I'm getting an Aussie made campervan (I think it is a much better option than the genuine VW campervan!).

Does anyone know if the digital dash only shows the VW sat nav or can it show Google maps / Waze when connected via Apple CarPlay?
Similar with music streaming too...can it show what's playing via Apple CarPlay (3rd party apps etc.) or will it only show what's playing via the VW radio?
I tend to use apps most of the time rather than Apple Music so not sure if that will affect anything.

Only shows the VW navigation. We have two vehicles here with it presently. I’m the same using the apps mainly. And we are doing retrofits on them shortly.
Hey Oli. Thanks for replying. Shame about only being the VW Nav though. I went straight to google maps and never even tried it. Don’t even know if it’s any good compared to google.

Hi Oli, you state that you have 2 vehicles with the digital dash and that you are doing retrofits on them shortly. What retrofit is this? Are you able to change the digital dash so that it will show google maps when connected by apple car play? By the way does anyone know what is happening with the Transporter factory in Germany? I am in Australia and I ordered my new T6.1 in Sept 2020. It was supposed to arrive in April 2021. VW Australia just informed me that it is now April 2022, but that the production is now on hold and they can no longer even confirm this date!
We’ve done quite a few now. And had a couple back to the dealers for software updates. One was fine the other we just recoded it in.

Wasnt able yet to find t6.1 virtual cockpit part number. It looks familiar with other vw clocks.
As seen companys can fit virtual cockpit to transpoters without sat nav. And the same company sells new virtual cockpit (just used for trying to program to the van, but didnt worked out as van dont have satnav).
Looks like that they use clocks from other cars (not california or caravelle), but there is different part number if you have satnav or no

They look like they could all supersede to the later number, if you called VW they should be able to tell you if that’s correct
There is some logic to it, one is much cheaper than the others but was unavailable when I ordered mine last year but didn’t make any notes so will have to do some digging again
You do know that you can’t fit the cluster yourself ?
When you swap the cluster the van won’t start again until all the keys/immobiliser has been reprogrammed

Had my cluster done but noticed the image is with barn doors mines tailgate is there a fix?
Just fit some barnies, no biggie.
