T6 LWB T30 140 Acapulco blue - Build Thread

Was originally going to get standard blackout curtains, then stumbled across vanshades. Really like them but the price is £720 vs about £250 for standard curtains. I don't doubt the quality and Pete the owner has been real helpful offering advice and sending samples etc but I'm trying to justify it to myself. It's a lot of money. Not sure what I'm going to do on that front but I need to decide asap

I've been speaking to Pete over the last couple of days at vanshades, didn't realise he was the owner. I've just ordered a thermal blackout windscreen blind, and set them a different design requirement than they have done before, which is looking forward to creating for me. Called him today and when I said my name he said straight away ah yes, and quoted my design. Just waiting for the proof file to come through, very excited. No purchase May has failed.

Yes Pete is the Director I believe. Looking forward to seeing what you have came up with. I havent got a plan for the front windows yet, I had initially been thinking the silver inner blinds but not sure

I had vanshades.. Posted somewhere on à thread and had done a fitting guide of sorts.. Very impressed, just need to look out for some bits..

Pete is very good, wish they were all as good as him!

Question: do you need curtains/shades when you have window film 90%?

Definitely. My windows are privacy glass so it's hard to see in during the day, at night however when the light is on inside it's easy to see in. I also want blackout curtains/blinds to keep the van dark when we are sleeping so that my kids don't wake up at sunrise

Shades are a must. We woke at 6am with the bright daylight coming through. Problem was, we went to bed at 3am after a skin full.

Won't make that mistake again. I still can't justify vanshades thought when a towel and some tape will do!

Youve given up early on the juice if you can still get the towel and tape into position or near to each other!

Good bit of progress today as I done my lining. Photos to follow once I get the ply panels carpeted and on to the van. Bloomin Stressful!!!!! Theres a couple of bits I ran into bother on the drivers side but the furniture will hide my sins. The passenger side went a lot better but on that side I kept getting the glue on the finished face of the carpet for some reason:mad:. Overall though I am pleased with the finish as this was the job I was fearing the most. I used "Easy Liner" from harrison trim supplies but I struggled to get any stretch on it at all. Theres no way I could face doing that to another van :)

Does anyone know what I can use to remove excess glue from the vans paint and plastic? Would it be solvent cleaner?
