Turn off Stop / Start

But of an odd conclusion about me and this forum. As I put above, I like stop/ start, I don't press a button, I have no workaround because I don't need one. But again, as I said above , I respect your ingenuity and look forward to you coming up with further ideas
Seems to me that you only like to pile useless comments and make finding useful information harder for everyone.

Roman you shouldn't get so defensive.

Nobody has said your idea isn't good or isn't valid.

For someone with the skills to confidently copy it and who doesn't like the stop start it's a great idea.

I also personally don't mind the stop start but if I didn't like it I think I'd probably just press the button until there is a VCDS/carista solution though.

I don't quite get why people loathe it so much. I had to change the way I drive to get it to activate. Maybe it's just me but I don't queue up in moving traffic in neutral with clutch up. I like the interlude of silence these days. And I cannot say it's never engaged in time when I'm ready to move.

There is another aspect that hasn’t been discussed here. Every time when you stall an engine the oil pressure drops to zero and oil drips back down into the oil sump. Every engine start is dry untill the oil pump builds enough pressure and reaches optimal fllow. That process normally happens 2-3 times a day but with Satrt Stop system the number grows to an average of 50 times/day. That not only wears the engine but also significantly shortens the life of your battery and starter.
I care too much about my $70K investment in a T6 van to overlook the facts.

I would have to agree im not a fan of the increased wear and strains placed on the engine from constant starting multiple times per journey

I personally hate this stop/start feature , have asked the dealer if it could be switched off or at least the default position be reversed, was told it couldn't be .
Will ask again, if not will definitely try Roman's mod.

Mate, my workshop is in Sandgate QLD. If you are close I can fix you up. Didn’t want to sound like advertising. Even the shop is not mine but I can help local mates.

Really good how to guide for a problem that bugs many. I'm sure some will use it and find your thread useful. What other mods do you think you may be tackling soon?

Simple fix, to an annoying issue, nice write up, seems simple enough.

The stop/start irritates me, when i forget to switch it off, but I'm now use to switching it off 99% of the time.

Hi
I commend your effort and comprehensive write up but this seems a bit of an extreme job to achieve this result.

I have disabled start/stop on my vehicle using VCP, this does it electronically in the ECU and is extremely easy to carry out, i have been unable to recreate the results using VCDS but have yet to apply myself to this
There is a device you can buy for circa £30 of ebay that connects to the back of the switch and will simulate a button press everytime the vehicle is started, yes theres an expense to it but will save time routing/connecting cables which i suspect will be beyond the average user ?

Sorry im not trying to talk down your mod i actually think its pretty ingenious but for the average forum member i think there are better ways to go about it
Pauly, do you have a link handy to this Circa solution to stop/start?

Not to hand but it's in multiple threads about start stop stuff, I'm on my phone with terrible signal so canny search for it

I haven't given up on doing it with VCDS but I can't do it with coding, need to explore the adaption channels more before I concede defeat

No the BCM defaults to off when the ignition is turned on, the switch just sends a momentary signal to the BCM that cycles on/off/on/off with each press

Jesus Pauly......you know stuff! "adaption channels"........WTF! Keep going bruv......this is an amazing forum/resource and I for one am hugely grateful for the effort you and all the other boffins put in!
