TV’s, their Locations and Setups.

This is the place where I saw the Cello 20” and it says it is 12v . I wonder if I listed the wrong model ?! I will check.
Thanks so much for your keen eye. That would have been a bit disastrous
Cheers
Phil
I had just clicked on the first link I saw and it was from studio and didn't mention 12v but had a look on Amazon and it states 12v compatible but both have same product numbers so a bit strange there , as long as it's in description you will be fine buddy

We've got a smaller Cello with DVD player and USB input / recording. The picture is brilliant but the audio is absolutely terrible - to compensate we use a small rechargeable Jam Heavy Metal bluetooth speaker with a cabled connection to the TV. It sounds terrific, even at low volume.
Cello it is and I will attach my Bose which I move round the house. Should be awesome . Thanks for all the advice which has helped my decision just as it did with the bedding choices.
You are all really generous with your time and advice!

You do realise that now you will just move onto the next thing to buy and before you know it you won't be able to move as your house will be full of boxes?! It's a way of compensating for the frustration of not being able to pick your van up. I am right there with you.

Socially distanced of course

Yep! Boxes arriving everyday courtesy of her indoors who needs no excuse to shop but is completely clueless about practicalities!!

been keeping the local recycling plant busy with the amount of cardboard from deliveries, is it just me or even when you have all you need I still typing T6 into search and eBay to see what else I can possibly by for no good reason

This is a really helpful thread. Looking at getting a tv too. Thanks
This is an opportunity for a newcomer to say a general thank you to the Forum. I have had quick, experienced feedback on a number of issues which has helped me to make good decisions. I think I am going to really enjoy the Camoervan community!

Hi, just logging in from Down Under here. waiting expectedly for my T6.1 campervan but unfortunately just heard about further delay to to COVID19 in Europe! I have a question about installing a TV in my campervan. What size is recommended? Any particular specs to look for, especially with regards to power consumption. Any good brands? Where is the best place to locate it? Also what is a good arial? Unfortunately I am limited in height due to my garage roof. I look forward to any suggestions.

Hi Outback, is this for down under or are you in Limey Land? I do not have such a set up but did look into it. So for GB a sat dish connected to a set top box, for Free View or Sky, some have both. I have no idea about screen size but I would guess something sensible. I have seen someone using a projector and screen. This may take up less pace possibly. I understand that most thing are available in 12v but a step inverter could be used I guess.

I am sure there are many on here with more appropriate advice and perhaps you are looking for answers from those down under for what best for there.

Do you get a brand called Avtex down there? They make a range of 12/24v tv’s. The latest ones have full HD Freeview and HD satellite tuners, some have built-in DVD players. I will be getting either a 19.5inch or 21.5inch screen with an Avtex soundbar, because TV speakers are so crap.

Hi @RayF, could you not run the sound through your head unit? Most take an auxiliary feed these these days.

That would depend on how the head unit is powered? I don’t have the van yet so I don’t know, but most cars require the ignition to be on or at least the key turned part way, and even then the head units sometimes turn themselves off after a while. I know my BMW stereo only stays on for 10 minutes or so with the ignition off

Very good point!

I presumed that most head units in T6 were not dependant on ignition but I guess some may be different. My T6 Executive can be switched on independently of ignition but is still a pain. Just as above it switches its self off at the least convenient moment. I think that I have more than 10 minutes though. It can be switched back on again but after a while the ignition switch has to be turned. Then the process starts over. Frankly if someone stole it I would only want a Radio. I do not use any of the other functions. If it was a specified option, I could even live withought anything at all. I am not the only user so it will have to do. A stand alone satnav is better at directing. The radio is OK I suppose but surely there must be better. As for TV, we have watched one or two of DVD on the unit but it is a bit cramped raealy and I doubt that I will run a TV.

A friend of mine uses one of these and swears by it, I’ll get one for my van next year

Ours came with the van but looks the same as that one. However, it also needs power and has two cables coming out of it - the usual co-ax antennae cable plus a power cable ending in a USB-A plug. Sorry but I've no idea what the actual power requirements are but it works when either powered by the Cello TV USB-A socket (ie. the one that takes a HDD for playback and/or recording) or a USB wall socket / mains adapter. That said, we rarely actually watch TV when away as we always seem to wind up in camping spots / sites where digital reception is either poor or, more often, non-existent plus we never watch much 'live' TV at the best of times.. It does however work very well when in a decent reception area.

The aerial in the link above does not require any power. It’s quite clear, the only cable used is the coaxial cable fitted to it.
