What does extended warranty cover?

What you guys doing after 3 years if you didn't (or couldn't) take out the extended warranty from new?

iTS FUNNY WHEN U ASK ABOUT ,,they say nobody in the dealership has heard of it lol
My local dealership didn't have a clue about it either! They said contact VWUK who say contact the dealer.:) I got it done in the end though.

Does anyone have a warranty with Warranty Direct? I had a quote for around £500 / year and that covered literally everything on the T6, including the DPF.

I used them before on previous vehicles and they’re much cheaper than VW!

Okay....how's this for a head scratcher! I THOUGHT I had purchased the warranty at time of purchase.....no, I'll re phrase that.....I purchased the extended warranty at time of purchase of my kombi. With me so far? I get an email from VW saying my (original) warranty is about to expire....would I like to extend? Hmmmm, thought no more about it until I took it in for its first mot the other day. Still with me....pretty straight forward, right.....wrong! I just happen to mention my extended warranty.
"Huh, what extended warranty Mopardave….there's no extended warranty showing on the system big stud."
"Oh no no no....it has to be there....I paid £329 for it!"
"Not 'ere ya didn't....now run along....there's a good lad!"
"But, but, but.....I did....I know I did!"
"NURSE!.….put Mopardave back in his van and send him on his way! Can you remember how to get home soft lad?"
"But I've got it in writing?"
"You have have you? Bless, is there someone we can call to make sure you get home safely?"
The showroom manager assured me that the dealership DOES NOT deal with extended warranties....the customer has to set it up themselves. Lets just say the salesman who "sold" me the warranty left some time ago and I'll say no more about that for now! I have a printed document that clearly says extended warranty PURCHASED capped at 5 years and 80000 miles! Can you imagine if my engine or gearbox expired after 2nd sept (end of original warranty)….the way VW are with warranty claims these days, I have a feeling I know which way it would go! In fairness to the dealer, they've been first rate so far and I think if anything sinister has happened, they'll do right by me.
Anyone care to offer an explanation?
Answers on a postcard!

How odd. I purchased exactly the same. And I’ve got the written evidence.
Vans only 15 months old. So I’ve got time on my side.

Hmmmm….I have something similar but no receipt and they have no bloody record.....bizarre!

My local dealer said exactly the same but went on to say there are two separate computer systems and it was/is on the other one that they don’t use.......I am still confused by it all.

No one is more confused than me right now mate!

I have just found my original email to the dealer who set up the extended warranty as the local dealer couldn’t see it and he replied
VW load this on to the central computer directly in to the vehicle history, this enables all dealers to see it.

I had a real runaround trying to get this organised on my new T6 - the dealer's service manager said 'you need to go to VW direct' so went on the VW website - eventually found the information (it's under 'Factory Extended Warranty' whereas the main page is for the extended warranty when the 3 years is about to run out) and phoned VW customer services - spoke to Commercial, they said no it's a camper so you need to speak to Cars, so phoned their number to be told the opposite! Eventually I spoke to someone who was adamant that it was for the dealer to arrange. So I printed off the web page and took it into my dealer next time I was passing - fortunately I saw my very helpful salesman who took it off to 'admin'. After 10 minutes or so he came back with the good news that they could in fact arrange this for me so I signed on the spot! Bear in mind though it's £329 PLUS the dreaded VAT but I think it's still worth it as it is transferable if you sell the van on so will add some value.

I bought a used van privately (no dealer), the original owner bought the Extended Warranty at time of purchase. When I bought the van the seller gave me an email regarding the Extended Warranty, I contacted VW Customer Services to ensure that my contact details were added to the policy.
VW Customer Services stated that the Extended Warranty was nothing to do with them but the responsibility of the VW dealership which sold the warranty.
I contacted the dealership (Carrs, Cornwall) and was informed that my details were transferred but there is no documentation, policy or other reference to give me.
I went back to VW Customer Services and explained the situation, I asked ‘who buys an insurance policy without any documents?’, VW Customer Services agreed and contacted the dealership to request them to provide documentation.
The dealership refused to give any documentation and VW Customer Services said there was nothing more they can do.
VW as an organisation is undoubtably successful but at the expense of their customers.
Many years ago it wasn’t unusual for motor insurance brokers to sell policies without actually buying policies with the insurance companies.........

Can you speak with the bank and obtain a copy voucher (effectively a duplicate receipt)? Just in case they tell you that the order was placed but the payment never made.

I’ve just checked my original purchase invoice from JCT600, second to last item; “VW 5 year warranty”.

After reading the end of this thread I thought I would check my factory extended warranty shock horror can't find any paperwork
found the receipt £329 checked with dealer I purchased from sorry sir we can't find anything on VW system but i've got a receipt
answer well we may have took the money but not applied for it
asked to speak to original sales person luckily he still works there
reason some of the older warranties going missing is old paper based system they apply email get acknowledgement email VWCV send out posted paperwork
new system July 2018 i purchased 1 week before change over now dealer prints off warranty
so Dave you might have one but they have to track it down on some old system
Also i changed my Reg and that proper f**ked things up
I'm still chasing mine will update tomorrow
