What Have You Bought Today?

Man, I’d love to but that a 406 mile round trip. @Dav-Tec gets a really good rep too, so it’s a shame. You’d think with all the T6’s up here in Scotland we’d have a good specialist in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Wouldn't be the furthest someone's travelled. Had a guy come to us from Tain for a basic tracker install about 5 weeks ago

@DaveD We used to loads of power cuts down here near the Severn with birds flying into the overhead lines (mostly migrating swans and geese). I solved the problem by buying a small petrol genny and adopting sods law - a month or so after I bought it (and before the birds started the journey back home) the power company fitted visible deterrents on the lines and now we don't get the outages nearly as often. I think the thing sat in the shed for about 5 years without being used and in the end I gave it to away as I wanted the shelf space. Nowadays, the high tech approach to the less frequent cuts is called Jackery Explorer 1000 (two of them) and a slightly less techie gas camping stoves.

Santa bought me some bits Today.

Trapzoid bars in gloss black and a carbon trim for above the window where the roof meets.

We have to have multiple xmas days in my family, so tomorrow is round 2 of presents. Hopefully fitting in new year

True to be fair. I’m actually going to attack it on my own. I will be calling on you at some point no doubt for future installs. Wouldn’t be too hard to stay at a site local to you and book in ;)

What did you plump for?
When our power went off my neighbour phoned me to ask if I'd got a generator, I popped round and he'd got half a dozen, the biggest looked like it could power a village.
I didn't want anything like that, we've got a gas barbeque in a big shed we cook on and boil a kettle when the power is off.
He offered me a Honda GX160 5.5 Hp 2.7kVA petrol generator that hadn't been used for several years but sadly had been left with petrol in it and he now couldn't get it to start, on the basis that if I could get it going we'd try to do a deal.
I had to drain the tank and strip the carburettor as it was all gummed up but I eventually got it running like clockwork, we agreed a price of £50 which I'm happy with because I'm a cheapskate. I've serviced it too which was very little money.
I've put some Aspen 4 Alkylate petrol in the tank now and ran it for a while, unlike normal petrol it will keep for years without gumming up the carb or going off, I always put Aspen 2 in my 2 stroke machines if they're not going to be used for months.

Got one of these a while ago and its been languishing in the garage. Used it for the roof today and it was really good. It has a noodle style wash pad, so ideal for minimising swirls and the pole means I can wash past the centreline without having to reach over / continually move the step-up.

@DaveD. Actually quite a few of us on here use a Jackery or similar device to provide a bit of extra electricity when off grid (but very few have ever paid the full price for the things as they are often on an offer of one sort or another!).

Q1: Does it regulate temperature with a thermostat?

Q2: The tilt-protection makes it less of a worry to leave running. (Presumably, this is just a pressure switch cut-off - no pressure = no power!)
Dear Mr @JOG

Re Q1:
Mmm, not sure...
I've used it twice overnight now & set it to 20 degrees, on it's lowest 600w setting.
Never heard it shutting down to be honest.
I think whatever temp you electronically set it at, it blows this temp out until you turn it up/down/off.
Drink was heavily involved in both overnight stays, so potentially this clouded any proper scientific study!!
If you manually turn it off (whilst still being connected to a 240v supply) after using it as a heater, it runs for a few more minutes until it blows cool air, then shuts down.

Re Q2:
Yes it is

I'd recommend it for a campervan, especially for a very posh "Beach" version!!

Oooh, eh! Where can I get me one of dem well posh “Beach” versions?!!!

Squiffy or not, I am confident that the thermostat is simply “keep on kicking out at xyz degrees” analysis remains true!!!
