Fitted the gloss black grills and fog light mounts

I did read that it wasn’t possible to remove the fog light mounts without plastic welding but I just about managed it and only lost 2 pints of blood in the process!View attachment 63612 View attachment 63613 View attachment 63614
Fitted LED fog lamps while I had it out.
I do like the gloss black look but may change the badgeless to one with a gloss black badge. Seems a shame getting a VW and taking away the badge but this was bought unused from the forum so good price.
Also fitted some Heko wind deflectors today. So will see it they increase the wind noise as others have found.

After a good clean yesterday I decided to remove the bumper to sort the faulty parking sensor but managed to get the Sportline splitter off without having to remove the bumper which meant I could get to the sensor from underneath. I thought these were glued on? A lot of the screws were rusted and not tightening back up up so I replaced all the screws with small bolts and the fit is now a lot tighter and secure.

They are from travellin lite. Only come with parking sensor holes though so I had to buy some cheap sensors to fill the holes. I may connect these up at some point but for now they are just for show@cgtmiles where did you get the gloss black fog light surround plastics from? Or are they oem smoothed and sprayed gloss black?

I did the exact same thing today but didn't move the seal. Driver’s door is harder to close than the passengers. Wonder why..........I fitted the extra door seals but the drivers door wouldn’t close easily in the first position (where people on YouTube put it) so moved it. Doesn’t sound as good now but the door does close without slamming it!
The passenger side was fine and did make a noticeable improvement.

Has anyone messed around with the catch? I wonder if moving this in or out a few MM would make any difference..Mine was the same when fitted but it beds in and was fine after a few weeks.
I had that look when i fitted mine. It was so cold i fitted just one and left the second for another day. No-one will see both sides of the van at the same time anywayStarted fitting my gloss black trapezoid side bars from Vanstyle. Got one on, then went to put the second one on to find the paint was blistered and pin holed! A quick call to Vanstyle and they'll send a new set once these are sent back. Can't fault the service. So, I removed the one that I had fitted and boxed them up ready to go. Trouble is the original VW chrome ones had a fitting so corroded that it sheared when I removed it. So I've now got one side of the van with a round chrome side bar and one side with no side bar at all. Not a great look, so I'll be out to remove the other chrome one tomorrow!
Ok, bought some more this time from THQ advertised as 15mm instead of the 16mm I got from fleabay and it should have a few weeks to bed in now so I hope you are right!Mine was the same when fitted but it beds in and was fine after a few weeks.
Like a lot of you guys I too brought some door seals...but once fitted the doors ..so f’.ing hard to shut and then the passenger rubber came unstuck on the middle ....so got this last august...it’s the dogs doo daa’s....much more pliable.....and as the saying go’s...sounds like a golf....Ok, bought some more this time from THQ advertised as 15mm instead of the 16mm I got from fleabay and it should have a few weeks to bed in now so I hope you are right!
If not I still have another doors worth so can always do it a third time
That looks like what I got first time and when installed on the drivers door as shown in the picture of the white door I had to slam it to fit. Is that where you fitted it? Also did you go straight along the bottom or follow the groove up the wheel arch?Like a lot of you guys I too brought some door seals...but once fitted the doors ..so f’.ing hard to shut and then the passenger rubber came unstuck on the middle ....so got this last august...it’s the dogs doo daa’s....much more pliable.....and as the saying go’s...sounds like a golf....

The image is wrong, that's not where the seal should go on the drivers door. Someone on here did post something somewhere showing the VW maintenance manual instructions for fitting and you're correct to have fitted it further from the edge. It should go down from the grommet at the top of the door. That looks like what I got first time and when installed on the drivers door as shown in the picture of the white door I had to slam it to fit. When I moved it to further from the edge it closed ok but lost most of the benefit. The passenger door closes fine and sounds really good.
I can’t believe I’m making such a meal of the most basic of mods!
