What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Wow! What are the odds of bumping into a medical expert? Immediate diagnosis of “severe whiplash”! Put him on the covid team asap
Female and phoned ambulance and police straight away. I pulled out of a shop driveway and did not see them and caught their rear quarter panel only a minor shunt but who am I to say whether she has whiplash or not.
John.
Ps still love my van.

Irritating that there was a chancer in the car. Let the insurance company deal with it

Even a minor bump can cause whipcash in some people, and no, that's not a typo!
I don’t disagree - but the speed of diagnosing “severe whiplash” and calling for an ambulance and police raises an eyebrow with me

I think my comment mocking the "whipcash victim" went over your head!!!
She does of course have all of the hallmarks of a scammer.

Here’s the damage to the other car which I know I’m to blame and I hold my hands up that I made an error of judgment and the driver needs recompense but it’s the claim of severe whiplash by the passenger.
There was no bang or feeling of a bad impact but the sound of scraping.

There might be a struggle to argue either way. Whiplash is popular as it can neither be proven to exist or proven not to exist. (That’s why it is such a popular ruse.) Take some time over the next day or so and write down everything that happened and was said. You’ll need that for your (or your insurer’s) solicitor. After that, forget about it and leave it for your insurer to deal with

I hope you didn’t admit liability, the insurance company won’t appreciate it even if it was your fault.
That damage on that car is not what you would associate an injury, my car has worse than that on three corners just from pulling over in narrow country lanes.

Thanks @JOG I’m quite calm and laid back about it as no amount of worrying will alter the event or future event, as I’ve said I hold my hands up I was to blame and it will cost me my excess and possibly my future premiums but my time of life life’s for living.
Thanks all and I think that It’s the last I’ll post until it’s all over.
cheers guys for your support.
John.
Ps @DXX I didn’t admit liability my insurance have said that they will admit liability to me.

The insurance companies will see it for what it is. At least your damage is minor and an easy repair.

Did she get taken to hospital? It would be ironic if she caught the plague in there. Sounds like the sort of person that wouldn't be jabbed either. Shame.

I was told by a paramedic a while back that you only tend to get paid out for whiplash once, because any further claims would be put down by an insurer as simply being an aggravation of an existing injury. The paramedic said he often explained this to people and most saw that their feigned illness was not worth trying to claim for because they could fall foul of it in future and, when they do actually suffer whiplash in a nasty accident, would have barred themselves from claiming.
Sorry to hear about your predicament @Rioja John. Glad no one was seriously injured and that the van can be repaired

The police would have to be called if there was an 'injury'. On the plus side, they will log the damage, as you have, and your insurer will be able to get a copy.
Thankfully times have changed over whiplash claims and evidence is critical for a claim to succeed. Doctors are much less likely to gild the lily these days.

My wife was a victim of the crash for cash scam a few years ago. It was clearly a set up and we challenged the claim via the insurance ombudsman. Our insurance still paid out the whiplash claims and then we suffered increased premiums on all our vehicles for a few years afterwards.
It was only then I invested in dashcams which would have probably saved us a lot of money.

Had exactly the same in a car park as she reversed out a space transit tipper reversed behind her no damage to our car the truck was battered before ding that's all the insurance company needed did it show any signs of damage
Both claimed whiplash no police no hospital both declined medical treatment and didnt want physio
And got £21,000 between them

Bought two packs of H7 Philips extreme vision bulbs to fit better/brighter/white bulbs. Good plan I thought.

However, dropped the first rubber lamp cover into the engine compartment……which then meant I needed to remove the engine tray to retrieve it. And then realised that I needed one pair of H7 and one pair of H15’s….and of course I hadn’t got the latter! And I don’t really want a mix of white and yellow bulbs.

On the plus side, I now know the underside of my van a lot better, and know that the engine tray is in perfect working order. Oh, and I have an extra set of spare H7’s.

So, now just need to order some H15’s, and then I can actually achieve what I started to do. However, seems that Philips only do a standard H15 which I suspect won’t be much different to the OEM osram currently fitted.

Looks like an Osram Cool Blue Intense H15 bulb will be the better match on colour to the Philips H7’s. Unless anyone has a better suggestion?

fitted my side bars which were top present from the wife for xmas.
She’s a keeper! I’m talking about the van, of course!

Finally, finally, finally fitted my Climair deflectors (they are the smoked version) and lower splitter. These have been waiting all Xmas due to the poor weather. Thanks to @Skyliner33 and @Texxaco for sending pics of their climairs as I wobbled about drilling into my van!!!
