Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Having previously worked in the city centre for just a few months, I try to avoid Bradfordistan like the plague. The standard of driving is appalling, with an utter disregard for the law, for safety, for common sense and for the laws of physics - it really has to be seen to be believed and is like nowhere else I've ever driven.
Never, Ever, drive through Bradford. i detour around it no matter how many extra miles it takes. You take you life in your hands.
Keighley is only marginally better.

was going to say it can't be worse than the cab ride we had in Naples a few years ago!!?
- mind you the look on Mrs Trouts face alone was worth the fare
Don't panic @Bav the view of the Colusseum as your swerving round the chaos is fabulous!

The last time I was driving around Rome, people were wearing a white Tee shirt with a diagonal black stripe faking a seat belt! Gives you a clue how long ago! Hopefully things have changed! It was madness back in 'the day'!
Reminds me of being in Turkey & seeing in petrol stations they were selling the metal seat belt ends so you could plug them in & stop the seat belt not on warnings when driving!

I'm fascinated by how many tone variations the seat belt warning can get through. My folks live in the same place as us so often when I've dropped them off after a roadtrip I'll just drift home at tickover and not put the belt on for those couple of minutes and I think I'm up to 8 now...

@Bav. I'm interested in that as I've got to make the call later today to my insurers about a similar journey (this one to the Gloucester branch). Did they fit an OEM or lookee likee screen and was it heated? Indeed, did the subjects even come up when you first reported it?
PS. Just noticed that you said 'OEM'.

On the subject of driving overseas, I've lived / worked in Napoli and I've never been able to make my mind up whether driving your own car is scarier that letting somebody else drive you in theirs. I think the best way to do it is driving a firms car that you don't care about and already has a few dents and scrapes. We also drove through Albania on the way to Greece last year and it's just like Napoli but the entire country is the same but with even worse road surfaces than Italy. As I reported on here at the time, it was so bad that Mrs AJ refused to travel back the same way so we caught a ferry to Italy and bypassed Albania altogether. I've also been told that we're not going to to the Albania leg when we go back to Greece later this year - that's the same Mrs AJ telling me that who drove a lot in Italy and also Cyprus in the 1980s when they were still making the transition from donkeys and most men saw a woman at the wheel and took it as an insult to their manhood!
