Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Had a family weekend away to the Camping and Caravan Club site at Hayfield, Derbyshire. Lovely site, great scenery. We had four pitches booked together at the top end of the site, containing our T6, along with our elder daughters van and two tents for younger daughter and son, all with their partners. Nine of us altogether including young granddaughter, and also four dogs. On the Friday, home made pizzas were cooked in the two vans ovens, while on Saturday evening two barbecues were running together with an excellent range of meats on them. Saturday daytime we launched three expeditions: The younger, active set hiked up Kinder Scout, while the more relaxed section opted for a more local walk while I, younger daughter and granddaughter drove out and went down Treak Cliff Cavern. Once we were all back, a further combined expedition saw us all head to the Sportsman pub just up the road prior to setting up the barbecues. At all times when nothing much else was going on, our four-year-old granddaughter could be seen substantially breaking the campsite speed limit on her little pink scooter. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Not sure I can post this.
Flew to Bergamo and now on the shores of Lake Garda.
I am in a Fiat thing. Cheap Italian crap. Loads of toys but not a patch on the T6. Things are just snapping off.

Anyway, it's very warm, the wine is good and the fridge is cold

Like @monkeybusiness, I am also on the shore of Lake Garda......Absolute nightmare of a trip from a French Alps to get here though!
Problem started with a puncture in caravan tyre on the way down the mountains from our camp site.
This simple puncture was a problem.......The air bag that I carry, to allow second wheel to be changed, is absolutely brilliant if the air compressor reaches the air bag and you can find flat ground! Not easy to achieve on a marrow mountain road!

Once I changed the wheel, we ended up towing the caravan to Lake Garda with no problems, other than the van having a fit about spurious faults! It has now calmed down after I cleared all codes using Carista!
However, here is a better picture of the town we are staying, which is more in keeping with the thread!

Were you shocked by the pathetic pitch sizes? I was a bit taken aback when I was told where to set up! I can hear the neighbours breathing at night! All massively friendly though and the scenery is worth it.

Yes! First camp site there were two families sat out having a nice time around the table and I rock up. The owner made them all move

Currently high in the hills and finally the driving is worth it. Somewhere called Polsa on the East coast. It's a ski resort but baking in the heat.

Not strictly in the van right now but used it to get here, a relaxing week away on the other form of transport I help look after.

If you're passing the Nantwich area then the marina also has a few pitches and some glamping bell tents

Also did a day out in the van and in the area can recommend Snugburys for amazing artisan ice cream - needs to be good weather as no inside space but a lovely wildflower maze/walk

And if you want to eat then Minshulls Garden Centre has an amazing cafe, the highlight of which is the amazing range of breakfast and brunch options till 11:45 - on the pricey side but you won't need to eat till supper which is the kind of breakfast I enjoy

On a recent explore I also noted that if you need a no frills stop in The Lakes then one of the car parks in Bowness is doing overnight parking for just under £12. It's van only, no awning and basic 50p public conveniences but might be useful to folks to break a journey on the cheap, and there is a good chippy in the town.

Move on? Can you just move on to another space and pay for the day?

I wonder.

I would imagine that after 8am you just need to pay for your parking for the new day. That’s what we did when we stayed in Bamburgh in the North East in one of the authorised overnight camping bays.

As a prelude to our Skye trip on Thursday, we have found an absolute gem in Stirling at the Witches Craig caravan and camping park, Blairlogie.
Stunning backdrop, relatively quiet for 'midsummer'!
A day in Edinburgh tomorrow, going in on the train methinks..Baby daughter wants to visit every bookshop we can find!
The Bak Rak spare wheel holder was great and with a bit of friganology I was able to open both back doors.
I'm hoping we won't need the spare wheel, but Skyes reputation for potholes made it necessary with tough access to the spare underneath which isn't there anymore.
Even the weather is kind, at the moment...
