Facebook group? I tried to join earlier this year and never got accepted. Last time I looked I couldn’t find the group.Could someone please invite me to the CFCA group? I had a membership pending for a few weeks but now I’m in the position where I’ve got an £8.5k quote for the new engine? Thanks, Oli
Yeah, that’s exactly where the van is going next week, they were super helpful.Facebook group? I tried to join earlier this year and never got accepted. Last time I looked I couldn’t find the group.
Have you spoken to Retro Resus between Bridgwater and Taunton. Very experienced in CFCA engines I believe. Very helpful when I called them.
pm your facebook details and i will try to invite youYeah, that’s exactly where the van is going next week, they were super helpful.
There’s a hidden fb group which I can’t see any more, sure it’s still there…
what is acceptable oil consuption in your eyes?Since blocking off the cooler and mapping it out my oil tests are now back to acceptable levels. Have done near 10,000 miles since start of the year, 2,500 miles this month, mileage now 61k, I am not seeing any oil consumption to be concerned about.
I would like to buy a pair of used CFCA EGR cooler pipes if anyone have any to sell.

according to VW 1 litre per 1000 miles is acceptable, personally i think it should be 10 x that !what is acceptable oil consuption in your eyes?
It used to be public but for whatever reason the FB group admin made it privatewhy is it hidden?

I think it might be best to install the Tafmet kit and carry out an oil change straight away rather than waiting 1000 miles, fairly obvious there’s an issue and every mile driven could result in more damage.I noticed a about a 1cm drop in oil on the dipstick after 10K miles. My campervan is 2016 T6 180BiTDI DSG with CFCA and rev.D cooler. I've got an oil analysis kit on order so plan to do 1000miles or so and then test. Either way I am convinced that the cooler will fail (my van has done 55K) so I plan to install the Tafmet regardless. Hopefully there's no issue but if there is, I hope i caught it early enough.
Now to save up for the DSG gearbox removal to get the crankshaft bolts sealed..... I've said it before and this time I mean it: No more VAG crap. I've only had my T6 for a year and already the sat nav failed, the crank seal/flywheel bolts leaking and now the engine will likely eat itself. Is anyone else noticing that VAG has been in a massive quality decline since around 2003? Everything before that was pretty good but nowadays, it seems they deny any issues and walk away. I know most manufacturers are pretty crap too but VAG just seems to go that extra mile to make big production quality issues and then deny/cover-up.
I'd agree but the van got an oil service yesterday. Wish I had taken the sample before then. I'll have to do a bit of mileage and then take a sample.I think it might be best to install the Tafmet kit and carry out an oil change straight away rather than waiting 1000 miles, fairly obvious there’s an issue and every mile driven could result in more damage.
If there is a high level of contamination you won’t clear it all with a single oil change, maybe get another one a few hundred miles after the first.
Then do an oil analysis 1000 miles after the second oil change.
Oil is cheap in comparison with the engine replacement.
7.4L, worth having a check around for external leaks. As far as I know the 180ps doesn’t have a reliability issue with crankshaft seals like the later models.I'd agree but the van got an oil service yesterday. Wish I had taken the sample before then. Forgot to say that I have been checking oil all year and never used any. Then I happened to check the oil last week when I was getting the van ready for MOT and noticed a 1cm drop. Between 9000 and 10000miles since last service. I think these engines hold 7 litres? Guess that means a 1cm drop represents around 1litre?
Thanks for that. It has recently developed the weeping flywheel bolts issue but the bottom of the engine and gearbox is just damp with oil. It cant be the missing 1 or litres though. No oil underneath the van and only a damp patch on the under trays. I'll feel better once the oil analysis done and the Tafmet is fitted.
