AdBlue Discussion and Issues

My Adblu was topped up a few weeks ago, & currently reading 4000miles remaining but it’s been saying that with out change since top up. The spanner & Adblu warning has flashed up for a few seconds twice in the last few weeks saying only 650 miles to go but then disappears within a few seconds. When I check on the display it still says 4000. Is this the software glitch? Emissions control lamp is on permanently too.
2017 T6 dsg150 HL. 26k miles.
Have you got the ECU software update mentioned above - it has been available this year and AFAIK is available for all variants of 150ps engine?

No updates since service July 2018. I’ll get that organised first. I’m guessing I can drive for a while without doing any further harm or van stopping altogether.

Wee bit different, but I had engine management light 5 times in 11 000 miles. Scr / nox issue. Had the software update a couple of thousand miles ago and no faults logged since. 150 manual, 2018

How do you sorted after this issue because I have Same issues in T6 2016 T32 Manuel 105000 miles done and I don’t know what should I do

So my EGR journey was scan with new Carista, stored codes so off van went to Sheffield van Centre. They wouldn’t do anything a said code was a software fault, would only progress further if dashboard light came on - cleared codes using Carista. Few weeks later half way through a 7hr drive yellow coil light came on, plugged in Carista and showed EGR fault (can’t remember code). Took it into Derby Van Centre (could get us in sooner) they looked at it and agreed EGR swap, stayed with them two days for swap (apparently not easy on the EU6 204 engine)new valve and cooler I believe - no issues since.

Quick Update
VW Assist (AA) came out and found the fault.

They added another 5 litres Adblu, reset the level sensor, removed the warning and suggested I take it into dealer once home for software update. Everything good so far.
Great service.

Hi there,

I recently move from Europe to Rwanda and I'm shipping my T6 here. The car should arrive in a couple of week. I found out Adblue is not easily available in Rwanda. It takes 4 weeks for the VW dealer here to get it and the cost is crazy. My vehicle will stay in Africa and therefore I don't need to worry about keeping it to European EU6 standard.
Is there a way to deactivate / bypassing the AdBlue system?
Thanks

nope, I suggest you buy a number of 10L containers and put them in the back of the van before it ships.

Thanks Loz. Unfortunately it won't be possible ;-( can is already on it's way. + the shipping company didn't allow anything in the car. Even the tank and engine oil got drained before loading.

Is there an electronic solution to bypass the adblue warning?

Came across this company , but unfortunately there in Bristol , as your van is already heading to Africa , you would need to find a company near you but it is possible but you can't drive the vehicle in the UK roads again without committing an offence ,alot off HGV,s have it removed as there imported to countries that don't require it to be installed so alot like your situation

AdBlue Removal - AdBlue Delete - AdBlue Bypass - SCR Delete - SCR Removal - SCR Bypass - DEF Removal - DEF Delete - DEF Bypass

After having VW roadside assist out 3 or 4 times over the past year for ad blue issues I finally booked the van in to get the software update, only to be told they can’t do anything as there isn’t a fault stored at the moment. To say my jaw dropped to the floor was an understatement.
I mentioned about all the faults over the last year and that the codes were erased by the roadside tech because there was no fix and a software update was in the pipeline to fix the problem. I was just told to come back when the light comes on again!

Lost for words. Completely pathetic response to a known issue that has plagued my van.
Not sure what to do now. I’m not one to complain but I think a call to VW is on th cards. If I can be bother with more muppets!

Frustrating but complaining about issues like this to VWCV tends not to get escalated until they have had 5 of the same complaint.

My 4 month old caddy has been in the garage 5 times. Last being 8 days, 2 days later same emissions light comes on the dash that VW claim is to do with the Ad blue level.
They now want the van indefinitely until the fault is fixed.
I have no faith whatsoever in the garage or VW.

Hi all, so adblue has a shelf life of 12 to 18 months, if like me you only do around 5000 miles a year, will the adblue go bad in my tank?

Try all Engen service stations for Air1 Adblue in Rwanda.

I tried that already as I saw a few articles on the web about Engen being the sole supplier of Air1 Adblue here.... but it seems like no one has ever heard about the product here. I also contact Yara limited Rwanda: no ad blue
