This happened to me a coupler of weeks ago on the way to Norfolk I called VW assist and the guy came out could not find a fault he topped it up (about 2litres) so no level problem. the warning was still on. We decided to carry on and about 5 miles down the road the readout went to 600miles! Shortly after that it suddenly went up to 6000 miles and has been fine since so a bit of a mystery!!Warning went from 4000 miles to 650 miles in one jump and threatened no restart. Topped tank up and it only took 3 litres so the original 4000mile level was correct and there must have been a fault. The light stayed on for a while but has now gone and the level reads 6000 miles,, which is correct. Is there still a fault or will it have corrected itself. Should I just wait and see before contacting the dealer. Van under warranty.
I'm having the ongoing issue see #112So the dreaded Ad Blue warning light is back on. In December they upgraded the software again and told me the software had to be specially written from the factory for my van
From then till now it has been fine. Last Thursday there was a 5500 KM range on it and it suddenly dropped to 1000 with the error warning light coming on. After continuing to drive for another hour or so, it went off and the range went back to 5500. Everything was ok till now and the range was dropping normally. it was down at 4500 and next thing it dropped to 1000 again with the warning coming on. The min level for the top up was 3.25L and max was 5.25L. I just put in 4 L, turned on the ignition for 30 seconds, but it still says 1000KM. The min and max levels are not showing up now.
I have a good 500 KM drive to do tomorrow, so hopefully it will be OK.
With the covid-19, all the garages are closed. The van is still under warranty.
Does anyone know if there is an actual fix for this?
See post #112 above for the history.
This is really sad storySo last Wednesday evening, with the ad blue warning on and not going off, I made the decision to call VW assist, as all garages are closed at the moment. I need the van for work and cannot do without it.
After explaining the situation, they firstly said we can't really assist as you are still driving. Crazy. Eventually they said ok we will send a tow truck and pick it, which they did. After cleaning out the back of all my tools, the temporary replacement arrived, so loaded that up with the tools.
Apparently my own van ill be left in storage until garages re-open. I eventually got through to the sales guy that sold me the van at the main dealer. He know's the history with it. Told him I needed it sorted ASAP so waiting for the service manager to call me. That was last Thursday.
Can I tell them at this stage that the van is not fit for purpose an demand a replacement? I believe this is the 8th time the van will be looked at for the d blue warning, bear in mind 3 months after I bought it, they had to change the mechatronic console. She is a DSG.
Not sure what my rights are here, maybe a solicitor would know. I just know 'I am so disappointed in the van and will likely never buy another VW again. The warranty is finished in 12 months.
They initially said in December 2019 that my March 2017 van hadn’t had the update so they did it! Then apparently another update on the 3rd visit in march.Good luck with VW customer care , in my experience they are appalling bad . My dealer was excellent in similar situation too.
Have you had the software update carried out ?
My problem was recurrent engine management light, and the adblue range fault once over 1 year from New .
Have now covered 11 k with no problems since .
Feel for you , it's so frustrating when dealer trying to help but tied by what vw do.
Is rejecting the van an option if they have not managed to fix ?
Just to update this, van had EGR flush in Dec 18, Feb 19, June 19, September 19 and just had VW assist out after the light came back on whilst being away in France.
Read the codes with Carista and it’s the same as on all the other occasions. Dealer booked up till February for diagnostics (Lookers Carlisle) so going to try Hadwins Lindale. If VW don’t want to replace the EGR then they can keep the van.
