Multiple Engine Management Faults

@Twoguns. Whilst I would have a figure in mind, do not tell them what it is. It is for them to make you an offer not the other way round. If you say £100 but they are prepared to offer £2000 then they are laughing. Don't settle on their first offer despite what they say as it being all they can do. No one in business comes out with their best offer on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd offer. Whatever they offer quadruple it and that'll be somewhere near what they can (a) afford, and (b) be prepared to pay you to keep it off social media.
Good luck, stick to your 'two'guns.

I'm a procurement manager, negotiate for a living;

1) Be reasonable but aim high they can only say no!
2) If you put an offer they instantly agree to it was too low.
3) If you dont ask you don't get.

You could ask for things that have a margin of mark up that they pass on to you, any parts you'd like, fitting labour etc.

My pain with a new Suzuki on collection day was nothing like yours but I got £500 refunded, roof spoiler fitted and painted at cost, discounted gap insurance, free mats, a tank of fuel and a free first major service with £100 of discount on the second service, go for it!

For the amount of grief you have had and something you might have expected if you had bought a secondhand van, not a brand new one, the price of a T5 :D

@Twoguns. My suggestion FWIW is to ask for the VAT back since VW can lose that. You have had loss of enjoyment of your new vehicle in the widest sense because it has not been available to you as a reliable and dependable vehicle plus you have had to make do with other lesser used vehicles whilst it has been off the road. An alternative is a much reduced final purchase price which again they can stand. The settlement will ultimately be passed back to VW Germany as the manufacturer of this defective product.

I'm with DaveyB..........you're flying blind here Twoguns.......you haven't a clue how far they're prepared to go so let them get the ball rolling. We all do things differently so ultimately, go with your gut instinct......if you feel vindicated, then you've got a result because you'll never really know just how far you could have pushed it.......as my dad says "there's a difference between riving your arse and scratching it"......if ultimately you're happy......bingo........move on and enjoy your van knowing that you were compensated for all the grief! Best of luck mate!!

I bought a new T5 in 2004, which was bad, very bad. Part way through the mess i was given two free services. Then, later on, i got about 4- £500, but they wanted me to spend it on vw accessories, rather than cash, which is handy for them as £500 has really cost them £300, or whatever. I was arguing to get it in cash, when someone vandalised the van, and i spent it in vw's body shop.
Anyway, in those days, i ended up with the equivalent of £900 in total.

Thanks for your suggestions guys. I've got an idea of what I'd like but I expect its to high but as already said you can go down but probably can't go up.
As @T6 Dave said I wont say anything yet as it's not been fixed yet and I'll get them to make the first offer.
The Finance guy didn't call today but he did say his wife was expecting any day so maybe she has gone into labour (good luck) but VW brand did and he even said no offer will be made until its proven the fix will work but I think his idea is along the lines of what @TEESIXY said, VW accessories but the only thing I'd want from VW are the new angled T6 bars but in black which are no out yet so I'll want cold hard cash.
Got a feeling that will be my next fight trying to get something decent out f them.

My van was at the dealer today for a new cv boot and I got a call form the service department that there was a "campaign" on the 150ps model for a new sensor to be fitted on the engine and a software update to stop the amount of re-gens the engine performs, I don't know if this is even related to your issue but thought I would pass the info on. Hope you eventually get this nightmare put to bed.
Interesting as I drove up to edinburgh yesterday and 40 mile in REGEN then 160 miles later another regen.
Guess a call to the dealer when I get back.

Mine sometimes makes a lot of noise when it's just been stopped I guess it's regeneration but never when it's being driven and only after relatively short trips

Increased idle RPM, no stop/start, lovely burning smell
Heard talk of slight difference in throttle response but not noticed it myself

A relative of mine with a 2011 Toyota avensiv diesel has had engine warning light come on yesterday, need a regen by dealer.
Cost £700 for clean £ 1900 for new DPF so not cheap deal

Reduced fuel consumption and if you are coasting you can see the idle doesn't drop to normal but stays at 1000rpm does seem to be a bit more hesitant. Just think it is strange to do 2 in the space of 160 miles whilst on the motorway.

mine seems to do it all the bloody time......maybe I'm not revving it hard enough?

Dealer has informed me that the two components that the factory instructed them to replace was a Sensor toward the exit of the exhaust and the loom that goes to it. The service desk guy who called didn't know the exact name of the sensor but will find out for me.
He also informed me that they have a campaign on the EU6 150 engine on both manual and DSG which involves an exhaust pressure sensor to be replace before the DPF and some may need a software update to go with it. He was not fully up to speed on this fault as he has not been handling this fault as the guy who has is off today.
They have installed the replacement parts and are now awaiting approval from Tech support to release my van due to the history I have had with it.

@Twoguns I hope that this is the beginning of the end of this saga for you :). Very interesting that you seemed to be alone with this issue as far as VWCV were concerned ;), but now they are having a "campaign" on both manual and DSG 150s with new parts . Seems the problem has been known about for some time with no info released to the dealer network .

Looks that way doesn't it.
I just hope this is the end, only time will tell. Still waiting for them to release the van as I think and understand that the dealer wants Technical to authorize the release so that if it goes again they don't get the blame.
