Mines 4 months old, and i've now done 9000 miles, and it's still doing it just as much as it always did. 90% of my driving is motorway and huge distances at a time.
My Touareg has s/s, it likes to stop the engine before the vehicle has actually stopped, usually at around 3mph which is pretty fecking dangerous as you end up coasting to halt with no power steering or assisted braking.
S/S has only kicked in once on the T6 so far in 25 miles or so, that's good because its a stretch to reach the button, on the Touareg it's right next to the shifter and I automatically reach for the button every time I start the car.
My Touareg did that too. Literally going from drive to reverse it would cut out, then you’d have to go through the park and switch off the ignition. Real pain. It taught me one thing about the T6 though, turn the switch off every time.My Touareg has s/s, it likes to stop the engine before the vehicle has actually stopped, usually at around 3mph which is pretty fecking dangerous as you end up coasting to halt with no power steering or assisted braking.
My Touareg was okay actually I know from the treg forum they made it worse in the Touareg T4.
The power steering issues are a nuisance and I think the designers have got used to the newer smaller cars in the vw range having electric power steering they forgot that we and Touaregs still have hydraulic power steering.
I thought the idle was raised and rough when doing a regen due to the extra diesel being injected on the exhaust stroke for regeneration.
Or is just when not doing a regen?
It's probably the roaring fire going on in the DPFIt's when my van is attempting to regen, assume the op's is too?
Stupid question time - When you mention regen, what do you mean? I’m on my 1st T6. When turning it off, fan runs as others have mentioned. The Stop Start 0n these things is useless. I had the misfortune to drive a Vauxhall Insignia for a week some time ago, and to it's credit, the SS worked every time. The VW offering sometimes works and usually doesn't. I appreciate there are several hundred criteria which must be met before it will (battery state / temp / what ancillaries are drawing power etc, etc ad-infinitum), but even after a long run it'll still not operate reliably. And most amusingly, if it does operate and you then put the handbrake on, the engine will usually re-start.
As to the fan running on (accompanied with a burning smell) this is probably, as noted, a regen. The burning smell will diminish over time. I seem to recall reading somewhere that if it isn't doing a regen, it may just be running the fan and also circulating coolant to drop the engine temp. But this last bit of info may not be gospel!
