Regen - completes after engine shut down?

So I have been making short trips the last few days and it started doing a regen yesterday as I parked up.
Today I noticed it was regenning again with the idle at 1000 rpm as I pulled up, so instead of switching off, I planted my foot up to the rev limiter 2500 rpm to see if I could finish it.
It took about 5 minutes to finish and you definitely hear a change in engine tone as if a flap has closed.
After the rpm dropped back to normal, so the job is done.
One thing I did notice was, I could actually see the fuel gauge needle dropping as it passed one of the white quarter markers during the process.
MPG has been 30.4 on the average setting but today during regen it was 17!

I do short trips, circa 5 miles each way, 4 times a day and hear the regen triggering every 4 or 5 days.

I've never needed to zip up and down the nearest dual carriageway to let the regen complete, it appears to be quite happy to complete on a short run.

I wonder if my stop/start being disabled, along with V-Power diesel, Redex fuel additives and 5k oil changes help to keep my regens down to a minimum?

Me too, if I notice it I’ll let it complete before shutdown. It will we fire up when started again if not but getting itself back up to burn off temp will use more fuel no doubt

Only had my T6 150 for a few weeks and only covered around 250 miles. (20k on the clock) Most of my distance is short journeys. Annual mileage is always around 3 -4k as I work away a lot. Not yet had the experience of the Regen light. I did once hear the fan working after I switched her off, I now assume that was something to do with the regen.
My question is, with me only doing generally short distances should I be pro-active and periodically, once a week maybe, put her in Sport mode and drive on a suitable road for 15-20 mins around >2,000 RPMs.
If it is necessary fair enough but as previous threads have said, goes against the norm for me, relaxed driving, wasted fuel, added miles, etc etc.

I would say wait and see.
Drive the van as you would normally, and if it can complete its regens within your driving style and use, then do nothing.
If it eventually puts the regen light on, then you may need to more proactive as you mention above.

I do similar milage to you and similar trips and I have never seen a regen light in nearly 3 years.

hi just to add here if you dnt mind,i have had mine 2018 for 5 weeks . I do short 4 mile trips a lot and the fan has started to come on aswell ,on long trips its fine ,I was getting a bit worried about this too so the answer is its ok normal for it to do this ,cheers

Regen beingf cut short . . . ?

I have this (fan on after parking up and burning smell) on my 1200 miles MY19 van. Good to hear I’m not alone although I didn’t think the fan coming on was an issue, the burning smell is a bit disconcerting!

I didn’t think the regen was supposed to happen on these sort of journeys (short, stop start but only on longer motorway revs/speeds and I don’t think I should have triggered that on the journeys I’ve been doing (buying shopping and delivering to my parents).

I will read up on your link @Dellmassive and I’m sure that will have all the facts for us, many thanks

Edit: I have never seen the warning lights on either during a journey or after when just parked. Can this still be the regen process?

If the van needs to do a regen then it will try and do one as soon as engine conditions allow. This state could be achieved on a relatively short run, so it will try then. The burning smell and fan running are signs that a regen has started, but obviously interrupted. I always assume I need to do a longer run soon if that happens.

Doing longer journeys are a bit of an issue now though, would leaving the engine running if mid cycle when we get home be a solution?

The ultimate solution is to stop using the van for these short journeys! We are supposed to use the wives car around town but tempted to jump in the van on the rare occasions I get to go out!

While thinking about this I thought it might be a good idea to actually read the sticker on the window. I’ve noticed while driving but never remembered to read it properly when stopped!

on long run ill get 2x regens.

one @ 1/3 andn one @ 2/3 tank levels

2019 T6 204bhp 4Mo. New to me, so not used to it's quirks and foibles yet. Today I've done quite a few short journeys, maybe no more than 5-6 miles each and after every one the engine cooling fan has been running when I've finished my journey and run on for 3-4 minutes afterwards. I'm surprised about that because I've been using it all week (for longer journeys) and haven't heard the fan come on at all. Today it is only 15 degrees C outside so not exactly baking hot and I haven't been sat in traffic or anything I've been pootling around the local B roads mainly today. Is it normal for the fan to do that even in relatively cool weather?

Thanks.
