T6 Aftermarket Digital Instrument Cluster

Bit annoyed to see this on my drive this evening. I may have to take the dash apart again and see if there's any twisting pressure on the display. Otherwise it's a duff panel.

I don't remember seeing this at the start of the drive though :/

Just been out in mine and I have the same. Maybe the brightness has defaulted to max

It will be stick compatibility.. there's no rhyme or reason to it sometimes. I have identical freebie sticks some good some bad
Cheers I've ordered some cheap usb drives from Amazon that are low GB. I was using 2 but bother were 64GB so hopefully that fixes it. Cheers for the support

I’ve updated with a 32Gb drive with no issues today.

Might be some pressure as mentioned above. But you fitted the matte screen protector too? maybe screws too tight when fitting the screen back?
Maybe. I’ll investigate tomorrow. Been out a few times in the dark since I fitted it and not noticed anything before. Only since todays update.

Just a thought, is this being exacerbated by us switching off our lights as not to flatten batteries, then running up our clocks and not having the normal startup dimming?

Normally it does startup dim in the day with my lights on auto (fake auto). Then brightens after a moment.

I will ask the question if new firmwares have adjusted brightness and contrast too. Possible.

Done to CEO and engineers chat..

'Quick question.. did the recent firmware possibly have different brightness and contrast settings, or has there been a panel change that the new settings might not suit. Many customers have started to notice the increase in yellow light bleeding around the unit. Is the backlight level changed perhaps?'

Checked in the daylight and my discolouration is still there, much less noticeable. My phone has boosted the effect. I will get around to looking into it more probably next weekend now. I'm also wondering if the fuel gauge is working, the range is definitely off, but the MPG seems okay. I'll set my fuel tank size manually I think.

But the most annoying thing for me is the physical lights setting. I keep losing the indicator lights on the dash. Do you just toggle it from what it is currently (even if that means setting it to OFF) and then it changes on next start?

Why is that even an option? it should just work. I'm really paranoid about it failing an MOT one day. I may revert to factory if these problems persist.

My interpretation of the setting is if you have a physical indicator to tell tale light in the bezel around the dash rather than in the instrument cluster, then you would turn this setting ON because you don’t want two sets of indicators flashing at you on the dash. In our case the indicator tell tales are in the instrument panel therefore we need the setting OFF because now we’ve removed the instrument cluster and replaced it with the digiidash, we no longer have physical lights

Thanks. It makes sense now.

Would be better to have a toggle setting between Physical/Virtual.

Good news, removed the cluster. Slackened some screws a bit and the corner discolouration is gone. Switched on ignition and then pressed the panel into place and saw it come back a bit. So I at least now know something behind the cluster is mostly causing it. Will cut more plastic away.

Just another thought, where do people route the USB plug cables?

It's the screws holding the cluster in place which are causing the issue. I slackened them off a bit and the problem is almost gone. Thought I'd fixed it but there's a slight left corner issue now. I imagine I need to slacken the left off a bit more. The cluster ain't going anywhere with the clips and the surround bezel in the way.

Does anyone have any idea's on how / why when activating cruise control, the CC sets to 70 where as the Speedo / GPS stays steady at 65 or 6x, it's almost like there needs to be an applied offset somewhere.

Someone previously said to use the GPS speed and compare that to what the dash is saying. Then there is an offset in the Calibration settings.

Although on the stock head unit with nav I can't remember seeing a speed readout.

My cruise was out despite GPS/Speedo identical. After speaking with the WhatsApp engineer we adjusted the calibration in the menu and it's now ok.

So you can apply an offset to the CC speed? I’ve adjusted my calibration setting so that my GPS and Speedo are identical. I have to set my CC to 67mph for the Speedo and GPS to read 70mph. Would be good if I could adjust this.

What I did tonight was to engage CC and set a speed. Then I saw what the dash was reading and noted the difference. Then increased the speed calibration by the difference (3mph in my case) so it matched the requested CC speed. This means the new dash is calibrated with the old one which will be what the CC is using to determine the speed. This may not match the GPS speed as speedos are always a bit inaccurate.

I’ve just realised this is the thread I started but the title of it has been changed. Will pay it more attention. :)

I've been thinking about how the cruise control works on stock cluster vs this digital one. When you press Set and then up and down in the stock cluster I'm sure it used to jump to the nearest divisor of 5mph. So if you set at 37mph and press up it jumps to 40mph, not 42mph. Only perhaps that's why people see differences between requested speed and actual?

Can someone with stock cluster test this?
