VW closes T6.1 order book today (3/3/23) !!!! - T7 Next? or T8?

The Commerce (Startline) looks particularly bland ! At least LED headlights are now standard. £38k for the pleasure.....

Bland, or a superb blank canvas for a Swamper build?

ATs on 18's, a lift, arch trim kit, Lasers, snorkel...you'd have your pick of the birds to invite round the back to inspect the off grid camper conversion while you wait for the AA to arrive.

£29,100 + the government bribe is damn nearly as cheap as a 6.1 Startline was new.

I hate the audacity of VW on their configurator:

On the standard equipment list for the cheapest T28 110ps commerce model is a 2nd 80Ah AGM battery, and Single-zone air conditioning system with manual control in cab. Yet both of these show as selectable options in the options list, at £228 and £480.

And a 70l fuel tank over the (too small) 55l std is an extra £48. I mean, come on, why isn't it 70l as standard?! Oh don't forget the £192 for a spare wheel...

Some of it is extracting the urine, but TBF VW have always done this - I remember when trying to choose between a Passat and a Skoda Superb, part of the reason I chose the Superb was that almost everything was included on the top of the range model, with very little left to option. The VW however, even the top of the range model didn't come as standard with half the extras I wanted, which meant finding a used model with them specced was nigh on impossible.

Ok following on from the above the Shuttle has fixed seats, not the sliding seats from the tourneo, which is a shame :-(
Yeah looks like the Caravelle in the promo launch is the UK Shuttle, they're continuing with the confusing EU/UK naming scheme it seems!!

Although the spec of the top of the range model does seem much more like the caravelle spec. I'd want to be sitting down when I see the price though!!! T6.1 Exec 150tdi was £55k so these will be well over £60k, probably nearing £65k.

How long before the Transit based version becomes known as the Shittle?
It's still called the Tourneo custom unfortunately. Price for a 136ps Auto SWB in the top spec trim (Titanium), with zero extras...

£61,600.

Yeah the VW Shuttle new Executive equivalent is going to be £65k, isn't it...

The Shittle, the Worn Oh-No custard, the Minibusted, the Comedy....

The naming convention is the gift that keeps on giving!

Ya there is no way getting around it they are polishing a turd (ford) haha

I'm pretty confident all the mod companies are going to go bat crazy trying to jazz these up to get some sales.. as already an uphill task!

Walkaround of one in the flesh (Irish version so possibly some spec differences).

OMG there's an actual clutch foot rest. o_O

You know, seeing it in real light with rain etc on it, it's not too bad... Acceptable, even? I know, I know, go and wash my mouth out with soap!!!

I've just noticed something about the commerce aka swamper base trim level...

No 4 motion. Not on the panel vans, anyway. Can't spec it. You could spec a 4motion startline on both the T6 and 6.1.

I know on the ford version of this van you can spec the AWD version in a couple of models, maybe VW will introduce it later on,
On the VW 6.1 you could only spec a 4M startline with the 150 engine, and not with the 110
