VW closes T6.1 order book today (3/3/23) !!!! - T7 Next? or T8?

The T7 Multivan is the replacement Caravelle I believe with the flexible seat arrangement, but smaller, noticeable smaller - We used to run one

This has the same seating arrangement as the tourneo, which is more along the lines of the Shuttle. The rear seating is very flexible, but no swivel seats or armrests - We run one already and the rear seating is great compared to the outgoing shuttle, with regards to comfort and flexibility

And we are taking orders already so if anyone needs a price on the New Transporter pleas get in touch :)

Ok following on from the above the Shuttle has fixed seats, not the sliding seats from the tourneo, which is a shame :-(

We’ve ordered our first New Transporter today - Tailgate not possible at the minute, nor is 170 4Motion! So went for a 170 FWD Commerce Pro in Stone grey with the following options;

17" "Montreal" alloy wheels in Grey metallic
5+ Promise
70L fuel tank
AMPS mounting points in cab centre console
Breakaway interior rearview mirror with digital display and dashcam function
Exterior mirrors, power-adjustable, heated and power-folding
Footwell lighting in cab
Goodyear all-season tires
Heated rear window
Illuminated metal scuff plate in cab
Interior Style
Keyless Access, with SAFELOCK
LED rear lights with exclusive lightsignature
Rear window wiper with washer system
Sliding doors on drivers side and front passenger side with electric closing aid
Style" cab 2-seat package - heated
Wide centre console with cup holder and compartment for mobile phone
Matrix lights

There are some funny options that you need to have with certain pack options!

We have plans ready for it :)

Retail is an eye watering £45k+….

There appears to be way more options on the ford configurator, are ford keeping all the good stuff for themselves? The VW is way more expensive with less options. I think I'll keep my T6 bi turbo for a good few more years yet ! VW have lost my custom (no pun intended) now!

This is near what Dacia are going to be offering. Hint of Renault (understandable) but looks good for the swamper crowd

Alas, that's a very good photoshop, the 'Sandman'.

Shame, because Dacia would probably make a good fist of it. They already do a sleeping pod kit for the Jogger, so wouldn't surprise me if they went the van way and did some kind of camper option.

For what it is worth I hope that Dacia is in the running for manufacture of vans and that they have an All Wheel Drive version at least. If the Dacia Duster AWD is anything to go by it would do very well have excellent Off Road capability and be affordable. i have driven a 2021 Dacia Duster AWD and it handles very well on the road and has excellent off road capability compared to many AWD cars. They are built to a cost but are perfectly satisfactory. The latest versions are very good and appear up to date but unfortunately do not include diesels well at the present time they do not. They are bringing out a larger AWD vehicle also.

I compared some of the models today and the pricing didn’t look that far apart, features aren’t quite on par but I was surprised on pricing, the VW even started slightly cheaper on the EV !

I specced a VW as close to my current van but without 4motion option as not available. Then specced a ford to the same with but with office steering wheel and 4motion. It was £8000 cheaper.

I have been looking at Transits for a few months.
You can buy a new/pre reg 170 lwb for about 34k
The PHEV I've been looking at also, slightly more, but similar. But, I can`t find many/any in lwb yet.
I've also been looking at something a bit older, and second hand pricing on some vans has fallen, a lot.

If I decide to go back self employed, I’ll be selling my 6.1 and will spec a new ford van, my own personal experience between ford and vw with new vans is ford have better service and better spec vans for same cost, and now that they are basically the same van I’ll go with ford

Wait times are crazy. If my new Transit arrives in Feb then I've been waiting 13 months.
Just a swb panel van msrt ev.
