What Have You Bought Today?

All valid comments - ultimately if someone is determined enough they'll have it, but with a combination of different security measures (visible and invisible) as well as the anti-ram security bollard (it's a heavy duty piece of kit) it would seriously slow them down and they'd have to make a right old racket before getting away, or ideally it would make them think there are easier targets to be had. It'll give me peace of mind and help me sleep at night, so worth it for those reasons alone.

Oh, and @DXX - for the bollard to be raised, I have to back the van right up to the garage doors, so I'll have to walk around the front of the van to get into the cab - it will become second nature to drop it (famous last words, lol ).

My deterrent is as follows- Drive the van right up to the garage doors, install pedal lock system and Stoplock in the van, and park my cat breadthways as close to the rear of the van as possible.
If they decide to have a go at taking the van, I will have it all on CCTV.

Call me paranoid, but had this installed today - hopefully it will make any scumbags just move onto a softer target...

Good one! A deterrent is a deterrent! I reverted to buying a stoplok a few months ago and “training” myself to use it! With the increase in demand, the temptation to nick your van increases too. Not paranoid at all

Got a link for where you bought the heavy duty version? How deep into the ground does the base go?

+1 for the stop lock, only problem is it s right pain when driving, haven't come up with a good solution to store it yet! want to get it secure as in the event of crash it would be a projectile!

I have a cool box (slim Lidl’s jobbie) permanently between out captains seats in our Cali. The lock slides now snugly between it and the handbrake cover and stays there. (The cool box also reminds the dogs to stay in the back….”mummy’s favourite” has a habit of inching forward towards SWMBO!!!)

Ours has a habit of shoving her head as far as she can under the passenger seat, (the dog not SWMBO!) good job we don't have a sub or leisure battery.. yet!

also found this thread with some good ideas, especially the last post #32

From these guys:

Very helpful from the initial phone call, and Chris and Tom who did the install were top blokes - very neat job. Based in Brum but they traveled a good hour and a quarter to come and see me.

The post drops vertically into the ground, so the hole they dug was the height of the post + a bit.

@V8markie - you've got me checking on Amazon for flags on sticks now mate ;)

@david173. Depends what seat you have. Ours is a Kiravans double swivel and the Stoplock slides behind the front drivers side locking handle - perfect fit, no rattles (with an old padded binocular case!) and it doesn't go anywhere. It's also out of sight and doesn't interfere with your feet at all.

Just looked at that website - the product is even better than I thought. I have pinged them a note enquiring about a “supply only” price. Thanks for that
