Discover Media Navigation software

VW commercial garage said it would cost cir over £200 for new sd card, so call VW customer care for a chat

:D Bryan1971: at least the app connect/iPhone still works, bugger thing is though I'll need to get it sorted as van will be getting sold :(

Hi NW, using Mac, downloaded file as instructed (followed VW tutorial video), unzipped, (saved original file from sd card), deleted file from sd card and reinstalled with new download. Nothing, when inserted into radio it didn't recognise anything, so erased and put original back onto sd card, reinserted into radio and still nothing
Ok, firstly you have done it the ‘old’ way. You can now download a stand-alone programme which will automatically scan your SD card and if an update is needed it will automatically save and instal the new software. Having said that the server was down the other day and just reported back server not available and I don’t know if it is back up yet, however the programme is available to download and instal (there is a Mac version) so I would instal this and give it ago.
Failing that the old way of downloading and unzipping files on a Mac creates what are known as ‘dot’ files which sometimes cause issues. If you go to apps and download a Dotcleaner app ( they are free) it may be worth running it to clean up the SD card.
Lastly you are using the original VW SD card as it will only work with this.

NW: thanks, yes using the VW sd card, will try the Dotcleaner app, if that doesn't work am I up the proverbial *** creek without a paddle scenario

I would start by confirming the card is formatted correctly ie file system NTFS/FAT and double check the folder structure on the root of the card, I hate to say it but chances are it’s user error when moving/deleting files

If you get stuck put up a screenshot of the card properties and a shot of the folders/files present when you open the card in your computer

NW: thats the site I ended up on, so wether I've done something wrong with the download not sure

Now you have confused me - on the photo it shows a button to download for Mac, did you press that then download and install the download manager or did you scroll down below and go the maps?

NW; choose the Caddy icon (2015 onwards), clicked on Discovery Media, clicked download for Mac and download for European 1, opened up, one folder (2 files) was discover care other discover care dmg file, the 2nd was a discover media 2 safari file, another folder was a GBR folder which contained radio station names

Ok, a bit of a click fest then - haha
You only needed to do the first one not the maps.
The first one instals a nice programme which does everything for you so intall it and run the programme. It may be too late now but then put the SD card into the slot and run it, as I said earlier the server was down so you may get that warning and nothing happens.

No you will be fine, as Pauly said the chances are you don’t have the folders in the right place, easy to fix.

I will have a look on computer tomorrow and see what the folder structure is supposed to look like for you to compare
