VW closes T6.1 order book today (3/3/23) !!!! - T7 Next? or T8?

My mate in France has just put his name down on 3 new Transporters/T8 or whatever they will be called. He leases mini buses for his Ski transfer business and the VW's were apparently what was offered to him from the leasing company, though they pointed out they probably won't be with him for next years season. He already has 2 T7's and is quite keen to have a more "up market "look, though the lads he employs treat his current fleet like the wacky races! So good luck with that. I'll keep you all informed when he gets actual delivery dates, as it may point towards the UK market.

Visually that really does look like a transporter/transit mash-up. I can't quite make up my mind whether I like it or not - would probably have to see it in the flesh.

Front wise its not too bad, its the rear that's likely to be the worst judging by the current new transits I've seen out and about.

looks like the lime green pic is the 'Pan America' version with all the plastic trim bumpers etc

Disappointed, I was hoping, based on the amarok/ranger that there would be more difference in the panel work. That transit raising belt line looks shi*e

It will be interesting to see ( when the VW version is on sale ) how the two vehicles stack up against each other price wise. Say the VW you want is a grand more, how many current VW owners will be willing to pay the extra, given they are now pretty much identical.

the VW you want is a grand more
Like thump!! It'll be at least £3k more list price I reckon.

It'll be the huge fleet operators, rental companies etc. that get them the same price as a Tranny...

Correct! So what fleet manager in his right mind would buy a VW over a Ford (I'm talking bulk orders ) when the Ford will still be cheaper, and resale values mean very little? Though the "scene " is a big part of the UK market, it's the big fleet purchases that keep the dealerships afloat, and they've had very little to keep them going the last year and probably another 6 months to go before they can open the order books. As I've said before ( I think ), VW have dropped a ball, having the Transporter coming out so much further down the line from the Transit.
