VW closes T6.1 order book today (3/3/23) !!!! - T7 Next? or T8?

To turn off speed warning it need 6 presses of the screen and 3 to turn off stop start every time you start the engine.
Steering is great better turn in than the buzz and t6 so hopefully the Vw will keep that.
If you want to look at built quality just open the fuel filler flap and look at the hinges that’s all you need to see.
The led light are the same design as the buzz and work well.
I have covered 400 mile motorway and B road and cannot get better than 39 mpg keeping well in the speed limit.
I think t6 owner will be disappointed.Lets hope Vw refine it as I wouldn’t want to go on holiday camping in one.

Turn off speed limit warning and lane assist is a single long press button on the steering wheel.

Having driven the electric custom, it's night and day better than the t6.

What is better about it ?

Serious question, as all I have heard is bad. Do you own one, or have just driven one ?

I own a T6. I do hate it and love it at the same time, unreliable, thirsty and expensive and slow, everything i hate about it is to do with the diesel engine. Drive well, looks great and has been reliable for 3 years it has put me off diesel for good.
I have test driven the e transit custom, it does everything better than my T6.
The one I drove was 134bhp model after 30mph ita slow and my 190bhp t6 is about as fast. 0-60 in about 13 secs with 400kg load.
Smooth and very quick to 30mph, super fast steering rack but needed lowering and bugger wheels for a more direct turn it. Should do 150-160miles real worth range even with half load and winter. It has a heat pump.

I've go the full fat MSRT ev being delivered next month.

Hardly surprising ita drives better as its a different generation. That's like being surprised my Pixel 9 is better than a Nokia 3330.

But we'll see how much 'better' they really are when they're a decade old.

@RattyMcClelland just out of interest, what MPG are you achieving from your T6? I'm getting 44 across a tank from my 6.1, and I'm sure I can better that on a long journey.

Be interesting to see how it is when it arrives, and how reliable they are.
That range would probably not work for me, as we fairly often do 160+ miles a day and as its all site work, so a charger might not be available nearby.
I am thinking electric for the next van, although I want 200k miles out of the t6 first.
Does the MSRT have the stripes all over it ?

About 28/29mpg. Swb panel van with 400kg constant load.
Remaps (yes plural) made zero difference. Been that way for 125000miles.
Best mpg I got was 31.9mpg Loughborough to Inverness at 70mph most of the way.
All measured properly. Not what the van tells me.
That's £27000 in fuel over that time. Crazy.

Annoyingly my T5.1 before it did 35mpg all day long, same load and roads and was very reliable.

No strips. Id image the evs they are very reliable. The Ford wet belt diesels arnt but again my T6 is terrible so never touching a diesel again. I'd have the PHEV otherwise but CVT transmission put me off.

I do about 60miles a day and can charge at home so EV makes sense.

Blimey. My conversion means I've constantly got 300+ kg load aboard, and the pop top spoils the aero a touch, the big swamper wheels grift along, and I'm still managing 50% MPG more.

In work out my MPG the old fashioned way. It drives the missus nuts that I won't drive off from the pump until I've done the maths, written it on the back of the receipt, and tucked it neatly with the others in the glovebox

Fortunately I'm a hobby user so the minor amounts of fuel I burn in the van are a non issue. It's electric all the way for us with cars though (apart from my old Volvo, but I've had that 20 years and that only comes out for shows.)
