@Dellmassive`s T6 T32 Sportline 204 LWB DSG PV MY18 - Van Adventure

UPDATE:

bit of a action today. .

apparently they cant do the oil test program as the Ghost Imob is stopping or blocking the ECU something or other,

so after a mad dash to site, then ripping out panels and removing the Ghost. . . . .

i go see the advisor to tell them the Ghost is off....

then they tell me, no it ok, weve done the initial test. . . (oil weigh and scan)

now you need to go drive 620miles.

but when you bring it back, please have the Ghost removed. .

oh well. suppose it had to come off at some point.

so I've got the van back. - now need to put some millage on it.

maybe 4-6weeks i recon.

Following this with interest, when they did mine the oil level was above the full mark. You look like you may scrape past the 620 with your current readings

i think ill smash it. . . its 0.5L, so half the dipstick for the 620miles (1000km) for a fail.

im doing about 100 miles per day atm. . so they are clocking up quick.

Third dip test.. 320 miles in

About a third down already.

4th dip test .. 442 miles in.

Looks like half way, ie 0.5l already. So that's a fail IMHO.

And just for the record...

The engine is bone dry..

UPDATE:

van is back with the dealers. . . after doing the required 670 odd miles.

and booked in for the oil re-test. . . .

they have loaned me a lovely T6.1 manual for the time being.

the following morning. . . the vans in the mechanics bay.

1725382865735.png

.

an hour later i get the call from the Service Manger.

"Tech confirms out of spec for oil loss." - ie its loosing oil internally more that what the max allowable for that engine.

"And that dmf is rattling"

Next step... they need to speak with VWCV warranty dept. to see additional tests are needed.

Possibly Compression test.

Possibly remove head. Cylinder measurement.

basically whatever they ask for as evidence and proof that this engine qualifies.

.

RIP - 2018 CXEB 204PS BiTurbo engine. - we had a great time while it lasted.

what would have happened if i didn't do anything about the oil loss as quick as i did?

well, if you keep toping up the engine with oil. . . . . . .

what would happen is the engine burns it and it goes out the exhaust as sticky oily sludge, that get caught by the DPF. ( so you wont see it at the tail pipe)
that gets to the turbo and the DPF,
the DPF starts to clog quickly,
so the van does ever increasing regens in an attempt to burn off the oil,
the fuel usage increases,
the cylinder/s start to coke up with carbon,
the diesel injector/s start to clog with deposits - causing misfires
the cylinder bore wear starts to cause low compression,
eventually the DPF become too clogged for the regens and the regens STOP.
the DPF will now clog up rapidly causing increased back pressure,
the increase back pressure puts extra strain on the turbo and turbo bearings,
which will lead to turbo failure.
then . . .
at that point you will need, a new Engine/Turbo/DPF/CAT and all the supporting stuff.

UPDATE:

just had a call from the garage.

they need me to sign off on the diagnostics to proceed with further inspection.

basically if VW say No, there is nothing wrong with the engine then i have to pay for the diagnostic time.

the rough quote for the time so far was £500.

++++++

well I'm 100% confident that this engine is loosing a LOT of oil internally.

and that its either from the block cylinder bores,

or from the Bi- Turbo bearings.

my money is on the cylinder bores.

so £500 odd for diagnostics for a possible £12-20k worth of engine work is fine by me.

+++++

BTW - if VW agree the engine is knackerd, then they cover the diagnostics fee as part of the repair - so not actual cost to us.

.

hopefully they will get it back on the ramp tomorrow,

i think this may be what we will get. . . with all the original accessories being refitted.
