UPDATE:
garage now says Engine plus associated parts + DPF + CAT + Oxygen sensor are all approved. - yay !
and are on order . . . . but some of the parts are on back order with no available ETA.
+++
The DMF is still questionable, as warranty office say its a VW parts problem as only fitted 12mnths ago.
and the garage need to claim from the VW PARTS office,
so they say will check again. . . that its out of spec, to then be able to claim for the new replacement.
if not it will be refitted on the new engine.
well have to wait and see.
i know its rattling,
and the VW Silver van guy also noticed it rattling. . . . and noted it on the sheet.
and i gave the garage a video clip of it rattling when cold.
fingers crossed.
+++
as for the Turbo, I've had some prices . . . and its damn expensive. - £3k expensive, and that just the parts.
++++
I called TPS for a quote, . . .
this is the Bi-Turbo, plus required pipe, plate, seal and bolts (due to the revised part) (retail prices)
well they call it
"Exhaust Manifold with turbo charger" - so assuming its just that - the whole assembly.
++++
interestingly they also said that its available in its split form, so upper high pressure turbine and lower low pressure turbine.
but ours called for the whole assembly.
++++
.
so £2857 for those few parts
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
and this is the list from the VW garage. which shows the Turbo and bits above. . . plus other bits and bobs the VW OEM book calls for to be replaced,
and that totals a cool £2953 of your Great British Pounds. (retail prices)
Jeez.
why so expensive?
++++++++++++++++
anyway that's just parts alone. . . no labour for fitting.
as the engine will be out, and the existing turbo need removing and refitting,
I've asked them to remove the old and keep,
then refit the new.
that will get be me back my 80K miles turbo that's fine . . . we have some plans for that.
++++++++++++++++
time to raid the piggy bank.
